Sorry but just because teams were placed in BCS games they didn't always deserve to be there. Or did you forget the whole butts in seats thing?

First, I never said anything about butts in the seats. Secondly, ND had a certain set of rules it needed to be eligible for a BCS game. If eligible, they were placed in a pool of other at large candidates. The outcome of the game itself has no bearing on who deserved to be there. Are you trying to say a 12-0 ND team didn't deserve to be there even though they got blown out? The lowest ND was ranked when selected for an at large was 11th. There were 5 BCS games that year and because of the rules put in place 10th ranked Auburn was not eligible because of the two teams from one conference rule. I guess you could say they were the most deserving being the first team behind the 10th ranked team.

The fact is Notre dame lost badly in every BCS bowl game they were placed in. It's possible they were over hyped and got voted higher than they should have been and didn;t belong in that bowl game or they just had the bad luck of being placed against a better team every single time. Or they all just choked .I find the last one less credible because it's different players and different coaches. There is no right answer . Bad luck , didn't belong or a combo of both. Either way you never won a BCS game.

In all those years the computers had them ranked in the top 10 going into the bowls. The voters voted them similar to what the computers spit out.

True if USC had only gone and won one BCS game. But theres plenty more they went to and won. lol

Edit. We had to vacate the Oklahoma beat down. But It's still right up there in mine and most Trojan fans memories. I'm sure a way better memory than any of the BCS blow outs Notre dame has suffered

Just so we are clear, USC has not won a real national championship since the 1970s.

Claiming a title during the BCS era when you didn't win the BCS title game is asinine and everyone other than USC fans know it.

Couldn't be more wrong about this. In what years when ND made a BCS game was it not warranted? 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2012 ND was very warranted of being in that game. Did they perform well in those games, no, but that doesn't mean they didn't deserve to go to them based on their results from the regular season. You can make a case they don't get preferential treatment because they could have easily been picked in 2002 as well. Ranked 10th at the time, had 4 wins over teams that finished the year in the top 25.

As for the new playoff, it's not ND's past that will get them in. You realize ND plays annually one of the toughest schedules in the country? They go 11-1 or 12-0 with that schedule they should be included most years depending on how the rest of the country shakes out.

Oh I don't know? Maybe 2005?

Oregon had one loss to #1 in the country USC.

Oregon was ranked two spots higher in the bcs. Bcs chose ND

How useful are labels like "blue blood" or "elite"? The Criminals won the natty last year and they had some very good teams when Bobby Bowden was their coach. The conversation should really return to which Cougars win tonight.

Well they are useful in distinguishing between decent programs like Houston and ELITE programs like FSU, Bama, LSU, UF, USC, Oregon, and so on.

ND was still eligible. And maybe it had to do with ND playing a slightly better schedule and not getting beat by that USC team by 30. :noidea:

It has to do with ND being ND and Oregon being Oregon.

That is all.

Oregon had 1 loss, ND 2. Both lost to SC.

Oregon ranked higher in bcs. ND goes. Why? Because they are ND.

ND was ranked 6th, Oregon was 5th. ND was an auto bid anyway. Why don't you get on UGA who was ranked 7th, WVU who was ranked 11th and FSU who was ranked 23rd? Again ND deserved it put forth by the rules they were given. The BCS automatically had to select them.

Because they all won their conference, that's why.

And yes, you proved my point. ND has "special" rules to qualify vs teams that actually play in a conference.

But hey, 0-4 in bcs and getting clubbed in all the games has shown they can't hang on that big stage.

Yeah they have to be top 8 in the BCS. Gosh what a joke. I mean teams that finished outside the top 8 never went on to play in a BCS game. And I guess Boise State gets special rules as well because the BCS had to automatically take them in 2006 when they finished top 8 in the BCS? :noidea:

You think it's dumb a team ranked 6th can be automatically selected. I think it's dumb a team ranked 23rd can be automatically selected. Who's more deserving though?

And you also talked about the fond memories you have of USC's game against Oklahoma. I'm just letting you know, the game was vacated and USC did not win that game.
