I am going off of playoff records. Actually I have to take my comment back. Romo is 2-4 in playoffs and Palmer is 1-3, so I will have to give Romo a slight edge.

Between them, they've started about 300 NFL games, but you should definitely look at their respective records in ten of them to determine who's better....

Hoping he just retires. Nothing but respect for him but now is the time.

That is my thoughts as well. He has been given a really bad rap for certain play-off failures but he has really been a warrior for the cowboys when they weren't a very good team overall. I'm not fitting him for a gold jacket or anything but I think he has been a special player and needs to think about his health. Time to hand over the reins to Dak and help the kid through this season, not that the kid looks like he needs much help. It's gonna be tough for him though. The team is finally on the verge of being a real contender and he will have to watch from the sideline, it seems.

What's Romo's current cap hit and years?

Per Over-The-Cap if he's cut post June 1st 2017 his dead money is 10.7M with a cap savings of 14M. This will incur some dead money in 2018 but it won't be a cap hell situation

I believe (could be wrong with all the changes) Romo has one more very expensive year with the cowboys even if he is cut. Dak will be cheap no matter what. I would keep Romo next year as the back up. He will cost the Cowboys a pretty penny either way. Much rather have Romo as the back up (his exp in practice will help too) than have Butt fumble & pay all the dead money because we don't want to say we have a high priced back up.

Geographically speaking, I could see him returning to Illinois (E. Illinois) and replacing Jay Cutler with the Bears.....Of course, Jerrah Jones could retain him on staff to manage various team activites. Either way, his career has taken a permanent Dak for a loss.
