If we pull the trigger on Carter that is going to make for a "walking on eggshells" season to see if those red flags have any legs to them. I don't see how we pass on him unless one of the other top DT's really has impressed the team.

Well IMO Carter is one of the biggest NEEDS on the team (just in positional value). Anderson is probably STILL the better prospect (marginally in talent, but less question marks). The risks between each certainly shifted things.

That said, I will say 100% (and this is not something I've changed my stance on), the fall off in the true DT market from Carter to everyone else (in terms of ability if the fucker tries) is night and dawn. Anderson is... dusk and day... there are a number of decent 3-4 EDGE rushers in this years draft that while not as great as Anderson on paper, are DECENT and SOMEWHAT comparable.

There's nobody near Carter. Kancey? Yah he's a pass rush specialist, but I just see Reed or Collier 2.0. Guy is undersized as F. Smith/Ika? Pray those guys don't eat themselves out of the league in < 12 months.
