How would you define a successful ND season (17-18)?

Yesterday's win was nice, but next week will probably give us a better idea of the type of team the Irish have this season.

We are in an interesting place in that we're unranked in the preseason, we've got a QB starting for the first time, a coaching staff that is almost completely new, and we're coming off of a 4-8 season. With that in mind, what would have to happen with this team for you to consider this season a success for ND? I've been thinking about this lately for myself and was curious as to how you all would define success for this particular team, and why.

Any thoughts?

Well win-wise I'd like at least 9. I think that's very attainable for a squad this talented, even with the new coaches and Qb.

Beat the teams we should beat and maybe steal one or two that we "shouldnt". Ga this week is winnable at home imo.

The main thing we need to see is the new coaches playing to the team strengths, which they seemed to do yesterday. It was awesome watching them run the ball with that much ferocity and confidence.

I think 9 wins is both laudable and reasonable given where they are at. Anything more is gravy. Anything less and Kelly should tender his resignation. He was given everything he could have wanted.

Losing every game from here on out would be my "successful" season for ND, but that's because I think you win next Saturday

Georgia Game to me is a big game. We will find out a lot about this team. I think if we win I got a 10 win season, if we lose 9 win season. I dont think we beat USC or Stanford.

I like this team and I like the direction we are headed. We cant have a melt down season like last year. I dont want to see ND but in a way when they do lose I want to see how the bounce back. Last year they didnt bounce back. If we lose to GA I want to come back and destroy BC.

Successful season would be 9-10 wins.
8 wins gives us some hope
anything under 8 things arent getting better.

Overall I like this team a lot more then last years team. I hate to say this but Kizer wasnt a great leader. I dont know if anyone caught the interview with Wimbush the kid is smart and he carries himself well. He Bleeds Blue and Gold.

I like your confidence (in us) and I sure hope you're right (about Saturday). Any word on Eason? From what I saw, Fromm looked capable of filling in for a time if he has to.

Looking forward to this one and hope we get a good game.

History is on your side. ND has a habit of making young QB's in their first national game have huge coming out parties. My fear is the Fromm for Heisman talk that may arrive

It sure says something about the state of our programs when neither side is confident.

Anything other than last yr...ugh...

Beat the teams you are supposed to beat, stay competitive vs the ones you aren't and steal a game that you were not supposed to. Stay upbeat, positive and stay engaged and have fun. Get better week to week. Let the young guys play and mature and get better....anything above that is a bonus IMO.

9-10 wins with a bowl victory and being ranked by the end of the season. Normally I would have higher expectations but after last year I'll take a small step.

I would like to make that jump but I don't see it happening.

Great game, guys (and gals if any)

I didn't think Georgia would even be able to hang, and it was a battle to the end. Turnovers on both sides, penalties, and play-calling all had my blood pressure soaring

Good luck for the rest of the season

It was a shit game with some shit play calling by Notre Dame and some shit penalties called against Notre Dame and not called for them but you can't let that sort of thing stop you.

Good luck the rest of the year hopefully Georgia wins the SEC because as much as I dislike the SEC I dislike Alabama more.

9-3 and a bowl win. Anything less Kelly needs to go.
