Simple answer is that because it is the Bucs.....we have always underachieved.....

People typically say that preseason doesn't matter. It does for the Bucs though. They looked the same in preseason as they have in post season.

I originally asked this question about a year ago - after the Bucs were destroyed 56-14 by the Falcons in week 3 - and took a lot of shit for it. That's fine, only week 3.

Then I asked again in week 6, when the Bucs were thumped 48-17 by the Ravens. In both games, the Bucs were completely unprepared to play and were entirely lost on their coach.

Fast-forward to yesterday. Perhaps the most embarrassing football display in modern league history. Getting absolutely crushed by an awful football team - the 2nd worst team in the league last year. And again, the team was entirely unprepared to play, and performed as if coachless. Shocking performance, really. And Lovie still has a job today?
LOL, you don't watch many Bucs games do you?

Or maybe 81-66. When has a coach with his track record ever been fired after 3 games ?

Fun fact - In the history of the NFL black HCs have a higher W/L % that white HCs.

Dumb thread.

Greg Shiano went 11-21 in 2 years and was fired.
Greg Shiano was 7-10 after 17 games

Lovie Smith is 2-15 after 17 games.

Lovie Smith needs to win 11 game THIS year to Match Raheem Morris first two years.
Lovie Smith needs to win 9 games THIS year to Match Greg Shianos first two years.

BOTH were fired, Shiano after 2 seasons.

How in the WORLD is this a Dumb Thread.

Lovie Smith
Cut LT Donald Penn
Traded Zuttah for a 5th round pick
All before his first FA period and Months before his first game.

He should have been fired 2 months after getting the job.

I am pulling for Lovie. And Jameis. But JW needs some help on that Oline. Lovie will put together a good defense there eventfully. He just needs to hit on a few Olineman.

I was listening to NFL radio when the news broke and they were shocked. Really? 8-24 as the head football coach & losing the last 4 games of the regular season this year. He is not a great head coach.

I agree his record sucks, but he did improve them by 4 games with a rook at the helm. I would have given him 1 season.

Post season isn't a place they will be seeing for awhile. But I got what you're saying.

6 wins with a rookie QB isn't horrible, its better than dip shit Jason Garret can do with veteran back-ups. You want to talk about a shocking non fire, its his dumb ass.

We should not feel bad for Coach Smith, his bank account is just fine. Go back to coordinating, live the good easy life.

To say I am in shock is an understatement. In the middle of a move and this just seems odd. Wonder if there is more to the story?

The Bucs went 1-5 after getting into the playoff picture. It makes sense if they'd rather keep the OC to develop Winston.

Lovie did get the defense back to respectability though.

I'm not going to say it was an unjust firing, the record is the record, but the Bucs are jumping on that CLE Browns train...Morris, Schiano, and now Lovie within the last 10 yrs?

The is a little surprising because they took a rookie QB and gave him the keys to a fairly mediocre roster...6-10?...not terrible imo, but when you're a DEF guy and your team gives up 417 pts ranking in the bottom 3rd of the league, that's not a good look.

A little too late I think...imo 417 PA is probably why he was fired.
