I would loooove a bonified stud HC like Coughlin.
That "passed him by" is an over generalization. The game doesn't pass anyone that's in it. He can coach a few years and then you can promote the OC or DC. Not a huge dilemma.
Coughlin is a great hire because he will steward the ship in transition for the next few years. Get it back on course and hand it off to someone in better shape.
Consultant? Maybe. Assistant HC...to Pederson? What an insult.I wonder if (when) they hire Pederson, if Coughlin would agree to come on as an assistant Head Coach/consultant?
Just one aspect here, but something Walter Thurmon said about Coughlin a while back.
"Coach Coughlin is the same type of person, but we battled through injuries last season. Yes, he's a little old-school, but he's starting to come around to the times. He doesn't believe in the sport-science aspect like Coach Carroll or Coach Kelly and the newfound technology for the players. His style takes a hit, because he doesn't believe in this aspect. He believes in winning, but he doesn't believe in the modern medicine to progress the players to that next level."
He's an old school coach, and his leadership with translate no matter what. Yet the game isn't what it used to be, and over looking a simple thing like modern medicine and up to date technology doesn't sit well. Yeah we already have all that stuff here, I know. I just don't see this as a home-run hit like most do.
Really annoyed Hue Jackson doesn't even get an interview here. We all want that leader type, someone who can take command of the team, captain of ship, yes Coughlin is that type, but at 70 years old I just don't think he's the answer at this point in his career. Someone like Jackson can also command the respect of his players, but he's also younger with plenty of experience, and he's innovative….yet we can't even get him in for an interview?
He got fired when they changed GMs as is customary. So...no.And Hue Jackson not getting an interview has a lot to do with Roseman (allegedly what got Jackson pushed out in Oakland - among other things - was him wanting to have a bigger say over the players made available to him (not surprising based on Oakland's inability to bring in talent by FA or draft).
He got fired when they changed GMs as is customary. So...no.
He is loser.I would loooove a bonified stud HC like Coughlin.
HE is toast! Has done nothing in the last 4 years! He is a winner of Super BowlS
