Per the twitterz.

Side effect of the P5 controlling all the money.

Boy how CFB has fallen. :(

Saw that on the ticker during the Braves game. Haven't heard anything else about it though.

Largely due to their $2.1 mil defecit. They have a very hard time making money due to travel subsidies they have to pay to teams JUST to be in a conference.

It was said by the AD, maybe just a threat to donors. :noidea:

they have a huge, built in problem: they're on the other side of the planet.

Why don't they just go Independent and play 12 home games a year.
Oh, and charge teams to come in and play them.

Sounds reasonable.

Has nothing to do with the P5 or travel subsidies.

It has everything to do with the corrupt hippies and bean counters who run UH. They find every way possible to embezzle the schools funds into their own pockets, while under funding the AD.

Hawaii is a lovely place, but unfortunately, it's also a den of corruption from the state govt, to all the parasitic hospitality and public service unions they are in bed with, to UH, to local and foreign based mob syndicates like the Japanese Yakuza and Chinese Triads running all kinds of shakedowns and flooding the place with drugs like meth & H, property development, to any basic public service like road maintenance. It's just one "syndicate" run scam after another with everyone looking for a cut of the action.

My parents moved there in 1959 and still reside there. Born and raised there. Visit at least twice a year since living in Seattle. I've watched what's happened to that state. Beautiful place, but very dark underbelly once you scratch the surface. Everything I posted is the sad truth. Hawaii is a corrupt shithole once you get past the coconut trees and beaches.

My uncle has pretty much said this about Hawaii. He lived out there for about 5 years when his company moved him out there. Corrupted, overpriced and overrated.

Hawaii to cut football?

Just saw this story on the evening news, and it perked my interest:
The end of UH football? Jay says revenue shortage could lead to - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

While not technically a UH fan, I do enjoy going to the occasional game. But more than anything, with all the recent talk about paying football players, this story brings into question the viablity of that idea. Admittedly Hawaii has some unique problems, most notably travel expenses and notriously low fan turnout (the campus is a 40 minute drive from Aloha Stadium, through downtown Honolulu and while the fan base is very loyal, they are more likely to tailgate at the beach than go to the actual game). But still, what does it say when a "major program" (and I use the term loosely) might be shutting down because of money concerns?
