If the injury rate was the same as it is today (219 in 4 years from 2010-2013 - a stat that got worse every successive year), you'd see far, FAR more than 5 or so elite players from an entire decade retire because of it. You'd see far, FAR more cases of guys suffering the injury.

So go ahead...give me 200 names. Can yah? 100? 50? 10? 5 others besides Winslow/Andrews/Sims/Stephenson/Warner?
