Am I the only one who doesn't see what the big deal is about that play? Yes, he is a repeat offender of tripping people, but to me what he did is no different than a player intentionally fouling somebody when they know they've been beat to the hoop and rather than letting them get an easy layup, the hack the shit out of them.

Why is one worse than the other?

one way to look at it. You are probably correct. However, this is Duke we are talking about... Duke players don't do shit like that (well shouldn't). But he IS a repeat offender and it won't stop unless something is done. Hopefully this does it

K should suspend him for the whole season just to keep things interesting. They're still the odds on favorite even without him.

The last suspension by the ACC was Montrezl Harrell for fighting and it was only one game.

So when is Carolina going to shut down it's cheating program?
They playing with 6 guys and tripping on the court? If so then they should be suspended for life.

Yep, trip somebody and be forever suspended but don't ever go to class and get somebody else to take your tests and write your papers but never even get any punishment. Sounds like the playbook from a Tar Hole hypocrite.

I put a lot of this on Coach K. The first time you pull him aside and explain how it is not acceptable, when it happened again that was the time to suspend him. This came 10 months too late, a lot of us so at the time of the 2nd incident.

I think you can compare it to an over the top hack, but tripping someone like Allen did in that play can send someone crashing unexpectedly to the ground, which can cause serious injury. Most intentional fouls I see the offensive player gets wrapped up so he doesn't crash to the ground. Tripping in basketball is by definition a flagrant two every time, and if a player has trouble avoiding flagarant twos, they should be suspended.

Allen should sit a while....but let's not make this into something it isn't.

'Indefinitely' sounds a lot like 'definitely back for the VT game'

I just resent the whole "this is not what we do at Duke" line Coach K is trying to use.. Obviously it is exactly what they do at Duke and he was the one who allowed it to continue by not suspending Allen after the 2nd incident last year.
