When its all said and done Mariota will be the first pick in the draft. Tampa has said they are leaning towards using the pick. So this is all mute. Winston will not be the first pick in the draft, too many character concerns in a league that is struggling to deal with character issues.

Winston may have hurt himself when he said that football is the most important thing to him - for right now.
So, if he has a rough start, he could bail, and play baseball. Yikes!

Wil be interesting to see how it all plays out. Tennessee in particular could bluff CK even with little interest in Mariota for themselves forcing a trade up to 2 when it most likely isn't necessary.

If chip calls their bluff, Mariota could slide a bit before we make the move...or we could just trade with the Raiders.

Assuming that the Bucks pick Winston & I still think they will. He'll be a huge bust imo though. Winston that is. They can have him. Wants no parts.

I do what it takes to get up and grab him. I honestly think that a Kelly/Marriota pairing brings us 2 bowls in the next 5 years. I also believe that Foles is closer to what we saw last year than he is to the 27-2 guy. Fix the secondary in FA and draft well in the 3-5th rounds and your set.

If Chip trades our picks and trades Foles to get mariotta I would be unhappy. I would lose confidence in his ability to use common sense over ego. Build a good nucleus around Foles and the Eagles will go a long way.
Rumors are swirling that Chip wants mariotta at any cost and that scares me. No to Mariotta!

I think these rumors are largely baseless. Chip has said nothing and neither really has Mariotta. The media has nothing to talk about this time of year, so they speculate on Mock drafts, trades and signings.

Trading the farm for one player is the sign of one of two things.

(1) is a team that feels it has few needs and is only one player away from competing for a championship. I don't think the Eagles team is like this. It needs 3-4 new defensive starters. I could fee differently about this is they cleaned up in Free Agency.

(2) is a team that is desperate and lacks confident in their ability to develop players. I definitely don't think this applies to the Eagles. Kelly thinks he can win with Foles, Barkley, Sanchez, Hundley or even Johnny F'ing Football. He is that confident in his system. Both the play book and his preparation methods. 4 years ago, Marriotta was no better thought of than any of those other guys and it was Kelly's system that has produced his image.

Would Marriotta/Kelly be a great marriage? Heck yeah. Great athlete and already has several years in the system. Marriotta is more valuable to the Eagles than any other team. Kelly would love to have him. But I doubt Kelly feels compelled to trade much for him.

Marriotta isn't making it past the first six picks and the trade up cost would just be too much.

I think you trade up for Mariota if at all possible.
If not, my 2nd option would be to stay put & pick Hundley. Who btw will definitely go top 20 imo. So a slight trade up may be necessary.
If he is gone & you could not get a reasonable trade up for him. You stay put & pick a OG, ILB or CB.


For me, I wont be very happy if we dont get Mariota and I'll be pretty pissed if we dont get him or Hundley. Doesnt mean they couldnt make up for it by having a stellar draft but I wont be a happy camper.
