I'm not.

I am a Foles supporter, but honestly, I am torn. It depends what the big move is, and what we'd have to give up. I honestly think I would be OK with it if it happened. I think Chip covets an athletic QB to run his scheme.

From what I heard, it will take giving up 2-3 first round picks order to move up that high

There is already a team in your division that recently did that to get a "franchise" QB. How did that work out for them?

If they could trade Foles for a first rounder, and thereby offer two 1s this year and another 1 the following year--I probably do it.

Fuck no.

That would be stupid.

Now for Winston you pay what you have to to go get yourself a real NFL QB that can dominate the league for over a decade. But the Bucs won't pass up the chance to go flying right past the Eagles on the NFC side of things.

I don't see Chip mortgaging several high picks for any one player. He believes he can take any of several QBs and coach them up to be great in this offense whether it be Foles, Barkley, Hundley or Petty. Remember that when he was a college coach, he was trying to get Barkley or Hundley to come to his team. Marriotta may need Chip to reach his full potential, but Chip doesn't need Mariotta.

I would be okay with drafting Mariota. But we are really not in a position to do so. I'm no Foles supporter but the price tag would stop me from getting Mariota. If he were to drop like Johnny Football last year sure. But not trading up to #1 or #2 for him.

If Foles was worth a first round pick, I'd keep him.

The only way I do it is if we go crazy in free agency and get a full defensive backfield.

I want MM to succeed in the NFL. Which means I hope someone takes him before the Browns have a chance. Since their return Cleveland is where QB's go to end their careers. Or in some cases a career never really got going in the first place.

Foles may well be worth a first rounder in this market.

I haven't watched enough to say he is or he isn't worth it. But we have plenty of work on defense to do and I doubt we take care of everything in free agency. Let's not turn into the Browns. We at least have a QB who has shown he is capable.

When its all said and done Mariota will be the first pick in the draft. Tampa has said they are leaning towards using the pick. So this is all mute. Winston will not be the first pick in the draft, too many character concerns in a league that is struggling to deal with character issues.

Agree.
1. The alledged r*pe case
2. The Crab Legs
3. The shouting in the cafeteria
4. Post season Weight Gain.
5. Not ready to rule out a baseball career.
6. Not the best of stats.
7. Slow 40 time
8. The Bucs OC is a college guy. Buds with the Oregon coach.

He just comes across as somewhat undisciplined. While I don't think he is a bad guy, I could easily see him as the sort of guy who is not a good team leader in terms of work ethic and example.

By contrast, Marriota runs a 4.5. Unquestioned character. no weight issues. The only issue is experience under center and in a huddle, which with the Bucs OC, I am not sure is the plan anyways.

I still think Mariota has a chance to be the Bucs pick despite all the Winston talk as being a given to go #1. Yes Winston is better from the pocket right now as he played in a pro style, but Mariota's a superior athlete with a high IQ and top notch work ethic who can improve that part of his game with coaching. The best remedy for a horrible OL (which the Bucs have) is a guy who can not only throw from the pocket, but get away from pressure and throw on the run. Mariota can do more overall and he has the higher upside. Winston is a good player, but he came to the Combine in the best shape he'll likely ever be and tested below average athletically. He won't have anywhere near the protection he has at FSU with the Bucs and does anyone really expect him to stay under 235 lbs going forward? He was up and down weight wise his entire tenure at FSU ... a Jamarcus Russell weight issue is not out of the question with Fat pockets in the near future. You also have to take into account the off field stuff ... yes, he said what he knew people wanted to hear at the Combine, but you simply can't discount what has already happened. The best con-men in this world are also sometimes the most charismatic ...

To answer the question though ... I would trade up for Mariota if it were feasible. Although I think he'd be great in Chip's system, you can't mortgage the future for any one player. If by some miracle he falls to 10-12 and we can do a value trade up then I'm all for it. I don't think he gets past 6 even if the Bucs take Winston ... so to trade up to 5 or better we'd have to trade too much.
