I don't consider bye weeks a mistake... you have weeks to figure out how to solve that problem... and how often do you have the same team on week 8 than you do on draft day??

Well it would be in the Suicide League, but other than that I agree. Hell, Suicide League is the only league where I use byes as part of my strategy.

the biggest draft day mistake IMO is not having at least 80% of your bench to be WR/RBs...

also drafting PURE handcuffs of a starter you don't own...

Agree. 1 Kicker, 1 Defense, usually only 1 TE and very rarely 2 QB unless too good of value or taking a flier.

Like stuff I've done or mistakes often made while drafting?
Either. Was hoping you guys would shape this discussion.
Maybe too little prep before is a mistake.
Doing 2 drafts at the same time is another.

what about a backup QB drafted with the only purpose of starting during your QB1's bye week?
Especially when the backup QB isn't a desirable QB2 and literally just a 1 week filler like Hoyer is for me in D2.

I'll prob hold him for a week or two into the season just to make sure Cam is healthy, but can't legitimately hold onto him for any reason other than to say I have 2 QBs on my roster right now.

You guys will love this...

Last year I took over my first ever dynasty and the team needed to be rebuilt. It had the first overall pick in the rookie draft (so zeke). I traded it for Sammy Watkins a week before the rookie draft.

I still believe in Sammy though.

My gawd you overvalue wr's. :suds: ;) ...zeke, even before last year, as a rookie drafted to the cowboys, was worth 3 or more Sammy Watkins.. and i LOVE Sammy

Lol we could not be further apart on this. Zeke at the time was definitely worth less than Sammy. I definitely didnt account enough for how damn good that situation is but a rookie is still a rookie.

Even now though Zeke isnt worth 2 Sammy Watkins. And Zeke, DJ, and Bell are the only RBs worth more than him right now IMO.

To further push your buttons...I think a WR is the 1.01 in rookie drafts in ppr(or at least justifiable), I only have 8 RBs in my top 26 rookies, and only 3 RBs in my top 17 or 18s overall.

*all of this assuming ppr

Well now, you had your pick of any WR in our draft yet you went RB....yeah I know you need RBs, but still...

I look at it as an arbitrage opportunity. (And actually regret taking Antonio brown instead of a RB because of it). If I take McCaffrey I can trade him for a WR I view as equal plus other goodies. If I draft the wr that's it I'm just stuck with him. So taking rbs kind of maximizes my potential roster value in this league. Plus as you said I NEEDED RBs and I dont think it's a big gap anyways. It's kind of a wishy washy top 4 this year imo and if you need a WR Davis is certainly with 1.01 but if you take one of the other 3 it makes sense too.

Just yanking your chain.:dhd: We kind of go at FF from a 180 view, but that's good, makes for a win win in trades.

I think that's the cool part too. You don't HAVE to to do things one way. All sorts of strategies.

The only gaffe bad enough for me to remember was in a rookie draft in a dynasty league back in the day. With my 1st round pick, I took Akili Smith.
