The NCAA just approved GT to play in a bowl with a losing record.

It's more plausible than getting the NYC market by adding Rutgers....

Anyways, all the B1G needs to do is make their footprint larger in order to substantially increase revenue. That's how the Big Ten network works. They get a lot more money for subscribers in the footprint rather than out of the footprint. And people end up being subscribers without even wanting to (through cable packages and DirecTV). So it doesn't matter if you're a fan of GT (or anyone in the B1G for that matter).. if you are subscribed to B1G and in their footprint you are giving them money.

just rumors ... but there's a lot of "smoke" ... and you know what that means

it's a no-brainer for GT if there's any truth to it

I really wish the ACC could stay together, but if this is true then I don't think there is anyway and everyone should be actively looking for a way out.

Paul Johnson won't survive another couple years like they had this year. Better hope for some major improvement next year.

This is good for the big ten in terms of tv market and gaining a school that fits their mold academically, but it's great for Gt. More $, again great fit academically, but I think you'll see a big jump in their recruiting. Not only will they be able to get more kids out of the southeast, I could see Atlanta being a destination for kids looking to escape the cold of the n.e. and Midwest.

From what I've seen of Tevin Washington this year he is twice the passer LT is...as a triple option QB. If I were Leal I'd transfer because it's obvious the coaches at VT don't respect his abilities at all

They will. Just because UGA has more fans in the state doesn't mean the TV market will not allow more exposure for the B1G. ALOT more, in fact.

Sure, the B1G will see a substantial gain in the Atlanta market if they add GT. It still wont get them the majority of the market with Georgia dominating that series.

The B1G doesn't care if anyone watches guys.

They want the B1G Network moved up to the basic cable plan, which it will be, so they get the extra$1.13 per subscription per month. Whether people watch or not is irrelevant.

It doesn't matter how many fans GT has. It's all about the amount of people in the area. The B1G would be able to sell their network in the state to all those people. Doesn't matter if they are fans or not. I live in Northern VA and already receive the B1G network as part of my cable package, even though I'm not a B1G fan. It's because there is a huge B1G presence already in the area with PSU fans. The B1G just wants that presence in Atlanta so they can bundle their network with cable packages and sell it to everyone in the state.
