There's a reason why he's never been a head coach prior to taking over from Bill Peters.

Why does this team continue to get off to slow starts, Geoff? Why does you player deployment stink, Geoff?

You're getting away from the important message, dash. Shits are being given now. It's too bad there is no attendance, they could hand them out at the entrance and watch the fun on Flames Turd Night

Matt Tkachuk probably deserves a Sun cover story at this point. The hell is going on with him?

The thing is the players hated Hartley, even though he was fairly successful (by Flames standards). So they bring in Gulutzan who let the inmates run the asylum and we all know how that turned out. So they get rid of Gulutzan and bring in another hard ass like Hartley in Bill Peters and he rode their asses to a second place finish in the Western Conference. Then the Akim Aliu story breaks and Peters is history and Geoff Ward takes over (by all reports, a player friendly coach) and we're back to inconsistent and listless Flames hockey.

I'm not saying this team needs Torts, but they need somebody who's going to chap their asses.

Is Mike Babcock in the bargain bin because that's the only place Flames mgmt looks for a head coach?

If he's serious about getting back in (and that Lebrun puff piece leads me to believe he is) then yeah, he'd have to be. Nobody is going to match what he's getting from the Leafs.

That said, Leafs could refuse to let him join a division rival in-season. Last thing Shanny & Co. want is to let him coach a team they might get in the first round and wind up losing to them (as is tradition).

I don't know, but he's playing like his dog just died.

This explains it, without the dog he has no shits to give. The team should get him a greyhound, as I understand it their shit/body weight ratio is super high.

theory - with no one backing him up in the Muzzin puck flip thing, he realized that his teammates hate him too.
and yes I realize gaudreau and monahan are not the ones you'd expect to fly in to a brouhaha, but I'm still running with the narrative.

It’s definitely possible. Locker room culture gaps seem to be a thing right now, whatever that reason may be (although Tkachuk being the rotten apple unlike, say, what happened in Winnipeg would hardly be surprising).

What about Mike Therrien? Not sure AV would want to part with him though

There was a rumo(u)r floating around last week that part of the players only meeting that the Flames had were guys telling Tkachuk to tone things down on the ice. If true, that's not a good sign of a functional locker room.

I read that too. Wonder if they'll have another meeting telling him to go back to shithousing :D

Yeah but think about it, once there was a players only meeting wasn't this pretty likely to be one of the rumours regardless?

I bet someone likes Nickelback.

Yeah well when a team apparently didn't like a player because he liked museums you tend to believe whatever shit leaks out about it.

Spoken like a guy who looks at funny pictures and sculptures. You better watch yourself around these parts talking that art mess.
