I think that was more about Russ wanting to ensure he didn't risk throwing an interception so he put a bit more air on it than he otherwise would've.

Tate has possession of the ball first. Both had their arms on it, and Tate's FEET TOUCHED FIRST. Just because you catch a ball with both hands in the air, does not mean you have possession. But most NFL fans are fucking retarded.

Common misconception. The rulebook states:

"If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball."

We are not talking about possession. We are talking about control. In the case of the Fail Mary, the defender clearly had control before the receiver.

By your rule, it would be possible for a defender to catch a ball, a receiver to then carry the defender all the way down the field to the endzone, then have his buddy wrap up the ball in the defender's hands and the 2nd WR would be credited with the catch.

You take away the penalties and Seattle has played a great game. If not for the penalties and the two drops by Graham, I'd say the Seahawks would be up another 14 points right now.
