Looks like the casual fans were right and the pro's were wrong tonight.

Such a weak Tech...end of the game and the refs have to be part of the action. Should have let that one go.

As much as it hurt seeing the slam happen, :agree:

Good nite all! :suds:

This is a sloppy game tbh.. Neither of these teams seem elite.. I think this is one of the weakest years of CBB overall.. For instance, I think my Michigan team would have been a 5 or 6 seed other years..

you just don't get it.. Defense is what wins games. Only two teams know how to do it properly...Arizona and Florida and that makes their opponents look pedestrian.

SDSU was in the top as well as we saw tonight.

But I agree...basketball is a sport where too much is put on offensive stats vs defensive.

You forgot Virginia.. But if you want to do some research.. Most of the past NC winning teams had a top 20 kenpom offense..

Ironically, it was all those three's that were the difference in this one.

Ohio State fan here... It takes a little more than defense.. Bounced in the first round. what else can I say.

Exactly.. You have to be balanced to win it all.. That defense wins championships is a myth... It takes balance..

That's true. Those 5 early 3s ended-up being the 5 point buffer UF managed to hold through the game. That dude has been cold as ice too...miraculous.

That's why I feel like Michigan will be lucky to win a title.. They rely too much on jump shooting and can't rebound for shit..

When a team is playing tight inside, a team has to have some 3 point players. That said, UCLA shoots lights out against everybody...tough to do when you have your legs worn out by continued pressure. It's about defense and how deep you can go into your bench. Florida goes 9 deep. Tough to deal with that towards the end of the game.

And bad second half shots by UCLA. It wasn't like they weren't open either..
Frazier was 5 for 7 outside the arc and 0 for 2 inside.

It just was his night, especially considering how he had been playing from outside the arc coming into this one..

Just the way it goes sometimes.

Yes good defense was a factor however those Frazier threes made all the difference IMHO.

Not sure I was thinking Ohio State defense as being the constant trapping/double teaming defense as compared to the Florida bunch...also, Florida goes 9 deep so that pressure is continued for all 40 minutes. No offense to the Buckeyes. This Florida defense is the best I've seen and it needs to be as our offense is average, at best.

^ and the fact he was one open mofu when he shot them. You can't let UF shoot 3s - they have at least 3 sharpshooters.

Not much difference in bench play, both played 9 deep while the Gators had just 40 min to the Bruins 36.

My point, while Frazier went 5 for 7 from three the rest of the Gators went 3 for 13.

Easily Frazier was the hero tonight, his play helped Florida to a lead that the defense could protect.

Our leading scorer sucked balls tonight...Frazier made up for his lack of production.

I'm not taking anything away from Frazier. He got a few open looks and made the shots. He is, after all, the best 3 point guy in the SEC, so any team that gives him easy looks is not playing good defense. I would say 7 shots on 3 is not a lot so UCLA did in fact know what he is about. My point was the constant pressure on UCLA made it difficult to hit their shots and that is important. Florida rarely matches up inside for size, but makes up for it with proper blocking out which means most teams lose the rebound battle in spite of being larger.
