So the Broncos are 2-6 right now. Last year after 8 games they were 3-5. Vance Joseph was called a lousy coach. How is Fangio not a lousy coach with a worse record through 8 games?

Well two reasons. 1st, this is Fangio’s first year and that was Vance’s second year. And 2nd, the Broncos lost those 5 games in 2018 by a combined 47 points. So far in 2019 the Broncos have lost those 6 games by a combined 47 points as well(and half of those points came against KC, they only lost by 24 points in those other 5 losses).

So while Fangio isn’t starting out better than Vance the Broncos aren’t getting blown out nearly as much and have actually been leading in the final 2 minutes of 3 of those 6 losses. Essentially this team is competitive where the teams coached by Vance were not.

Also look back at Vance’s first year, the Broncos were also 3-5 through 8 weeks but the biggest key is in all of those 5 losses they lost by 10+ points in every single one, this year they’ve lost by 10+ points only once and by 2 points in half of those.
