BS from MLB TV about Cal's comments.

Love how they gloss over the Rangers signing Seager and Semien. Like that team doesn't sniff the playoffs without those 2 guys. Combined WAR of 14.5. But please tell me more about how that's not the way to build a winning baseball team.

That was my take as well. Money doesn't buy playoffs yet they spent a boatload the last two years. Huh?

So..what Seattle and Jedi..are good at..
Is pitching...
And it's what..Seattle .needs..being.
Behind..an.8 ball.
For free agents...
And maybe..that is Snell .and..maybe..
Not..
But I get the feeling..if Seattle..offered.
Top dollar..with..Snell..that he would.
Play here...
So we will..see on that....
But indea..imo..is available..in trade..imo..
Others idk..
I just go on information..I can gather.

Seattle's rotation..is the envy..of the league .
What settle needs.is risp hitters.

Ammad Rosario..is one..from Cleveland..traded.to.dodgers..free agent.
Seattle loads the bases..but can't hit them.
In..
Suarez .I saw..so maney times..
Hernandez..
Seattle..also..2nd most..8n strike.outs in the.
League..
Almost .every playoff team..has.2.players.
In top 20..risp..seattle.has..zero..

Whitch..just..kills.there..pitching..
And offence .
So getting.2 risp
Guys in the.topm.20..for risp..
Is important..
To...rbis..hits ...
Like that .
Seattle..20th..in hits..so there..
Offensive..numbers.have.to go..
Up..to cover..there pitching..

That .is also .what.the rest of the league..fears

I am actually on the minority of what Cal said and think he is a little out of line. Don't get me wrong I admit that I changed my mind on Juan Soto in that signing him to a mega deal would be worth it. But as to Cals comments I think we can agree that the rotation and pitching staff played well so really its the lineup that needs help. I believe it Ty France, Kelenic and possibly Suarez all played how they did last year and also play to their potential and not kick coolers break their foot we probably would have made the playoffs this year.

Everything Cal said was perfect, actually.

He didn't say "go get Ohtani" or any other mega contract type player who's looking for a half billion dollar contract. He didn't even imply that. He said go out and buy pieces that will make the team better. Without somebody to call out owners like Cal did, they'll just maintain the low payroll and have trader Jerry gamble away significant pieces of the only good thing we have, which is our pitching staff.

Real fans are thankful for what Cal said.

"DIPOTO: This season, as much as it was disappointing in the end, was a step forward for us. Sustainable roster, competing for championships year in and year out. Forward steps for our young players. Our challenge as a front office is to find a way to step forward."

LMAO. That's the full text of the tweet that Cloud just mentioned.

So he said failing to make the postseason is actually a step forward for competing for championships.

And then he said it's challenging for the front office to find a way to step forward.

Seems like these morons can find a way to spin any result a step forward to me.

By that logic though, if Castillo, Miller and Woo played up to their potential they would’ve made the playoffs. They had DH and 2B as the 2 glaring holes to start the season and finished with 3, DH, 2B and closer

The sustainable part is the frustrating one. They built a franchise that can sustain 2/3 place in the AL West. 3 straight years is either 1 game in or 1 game out of the playoffs.

Plus this all sucks that it is Cal that said it, because they are grooming his replacement so any future “punishment” they can justify cause Ford will be giving the opportunity to make the squad out of the spring.

For sure. The thing for me is that yes, it's possible to build a contender mostly through trades even with a midling budget. That requires institutional competence and commitment and at least a willingness to reinvest revenue into roster payroll. That's not the M's lol.

Jerry Dipoto says the team has made a decision on the QO for Teoscar Hernández but won’t be making that public until they have a chance to speak with Teo.

Best-case scenario, Mariners are aiming for Robbie Ray to return around the All-Star break next summer.
