Tell Hammer that. Maybe, just maybe he might get this trade. IMO, it's a crap shoot. The Rams haven't made the playoffs in 13 years, they had to do sometning. Just my opinion.
Does this trade somehow ensure they will make the playoffs?

High risk potential high reward. It's that evil word "potential" that would scare me.

Well the alternative is to be doomed to a 8-8 team for the next few years, so why not?

It's not an entire draft either. The Rams gave up 2 2nds and a 3rd, plus two future picks (one likely to be 3rd round comp pick, ironically enough for a player selected with a pick from that Skins trade). One of the 2nds was from trading away Bradford, handicapping the Eagles' ability to trade up for one of these guys.

The Rams gave up a 1st, 2 2nds and a 3rd this year. They also gave up a 1st and a 3rd next year. Given they are likely going to draft a rookie QB and play them that means they will probably struggle, especially given they have a pretty tough schedule that first could be pretty high in the draft.

It's an awful lot to give up. If the QB they take pans out then it will be worth it. But historically that hasn't really been the case in these types of trades.

Don't think you can say they give a first, because they got a first, a better first. Yeah they gave up a lot picks but one gem at QB would tilt it as a plus. Rams can try to find gems after the third round, this is the right draft for it, from what I've heard. Some of these trades work out, some don't, really depends on the player the team moved up for panning out.

Actually the Rams didn't give up a 1st round pick this year. They just traded 1st round positions with the Titans. The Rams did give up two 2nds and a third this year and a 1st and third next year.

Sure, but it's not as much as 3 1sts and a 2nd. The 3rd rounder next year will be a compensatory pick at the end of the round that they are expected to get for Jenkins. Of course it all comes down to how the players pan out, that's the whole point of trades.

Guys. I realize that you consider it a swap but the actual trade included their 1st. Saying that 1st doesn't count is kinda ridiculous. Of course it counts. If the Rams didn't have to give up their 1st rounder, the trade would have been a lot better for them.

Huh? How can they trade a pick they don't have?

And while the trade may not be as bad as the Redskins trade, that hardly makes it a good trade.

It's a huge roll of the dice. If the QB they select turns into an elite QB, then the trade was probably worth but will STILL hurt the team. If he turns out to be anything less, then the trade is a failure.

Of course is would, but the fact is that the Rams and Titans swapped 1st round picks, with the Rams moving up to hopefully getting a better player.

Of course. But the 1st was still part of the deal.

It's in the terms of the trade. If they don't get the compensatory pick, the Titans get the regular 3rd rounder and the Rams get the Titans 2017 7th.

There's no doubt that the Titans are the clear winner here. Even if the Rams pick up a franchise QB, in which case it will turn out to be a good deal for both teams.

The Titans won't be the clear winner if they draft like the Browns. That said, nobody expects them to draft that poorly, lol.

OK. Never heard of that before, but then teams have only recently been able to trade comp picks.

The Titans are the clear winner of the trade. They may screw up the picks and the Rams may draft a franchise QB, but the Titans need talent and trading down and getting a basket of high round draft picks is a 100% win with almost no downside for them, since they weren't drafting a QB and any other potential No. 1 overall pick would have either been a questionable fit at best or a huge reach. They will still get a quality player at 15.

The Rams could make it a win-win if they draft a franchise QB. Odds are against them though.

Well, they'll definitely get their QB. It all hinges on how he does. Still hoping it's Wentz...
