I guess this is the beginning of the Big 12 era they just need to actually get into the playoff and they are all set.

Now, now, you KNOW that we play our Sun Belt teams in November to give ourselves an extra bye week before the rivalry games!

South Carolina starts off next year with North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, UCF, Missouri and LSU. There's nary a sun belt team on the sked, but there IS a AA school in week 11, that'll always be there. They shouldn't start the season ranked but if they wind up there in week three, it'll be because they've beaten P5 teams

Lol if they beat Georgia then by all means rank them.

Yeahhhhh....they won't. Call it a hunch. They couldn't even beat Kentucky this year. I would not be shocked to see the Gamecocks staring off 0-3. UNC has a killer offense, but no defense, same as the Cocks. That could be a shootout, and the game is in Charlotte. UK is at home, possibly a win but who knows what our QB situation and defense will be like? Georgia is just a flat-out better team that we barely beat this year in Columbia. 2015 is between the Hedges, that's an L.

We'll very likely be 1-5 by the time we get Vandy, so no worries about us being ranked after week two.

As much as I'd like to believe it's truly over I'm sure to open 2015 preseason polls the media will continue to boost sec. IMO only sec teams that should be ranked at all are Alabama around 10th, Georgia 15 or so. Maybe Missouri at 25. But we all know teams like Lsu, South Carolina, Auburn and maybe the miss schools will be given rankings they don't deserve. And even if these said schools are left out wins over 2 sunbelt teams and Vanderbilt will vault them into top 25 undeserved.

That is what I think as well, it wouldn't be surprising.

The only ranking that matters is #1 at the end of the year. I try not to waste my team caring about the rankings during the regular season. Preseason rankings are stupid as well. Made up by fools that probally know less then most of us fans that actually watch most of the games. Just saying.

Was a nice run.

Losing the last BCS title and out of the first playoff.

Having the flagship school beat by OU last year and Ohio State this year.

Having it's golden goose division going 2-5 in bowls.

Fuck ESPN
SEC superiority was just a myth.

I don't think any conference is going to have a representative win a championship more than 3 seasons in a row

the playoff simply is far and away better at matching up the two best teams

and that reduces a conferences chances at a national title

It took a great coach that had a lot of success in the SEC to change things.
It's only fair. It took at Big Ten coach to make LSU and Alabama relevant as well.

Les is a Michigan man and Saban coached sparty.

You can add Bielema and Butch Jones to the list of Midwest coaches that are turning SEC programs around. I doubt they ever reach the level of LSU or Bama but they'll win quite a few games.

Basically what I wrote to Dan Ohlmeyer back in 2010 when he was the ESPN Ombudsman...I didn't receive a response.

And 6-8 team in the top 25 at the end of the season.

Now that Winston is out of the way, maybe we'll start getting SEC vs Big 12 and Pac vs Big10 playoff matchups that everyone wants.
