I don't consider myself a "conference guy" as I was rooting for OSU tonight....it's not the end because of the athletes that come through the SEC but I will say this...the SEC took one on the chin this bowl season
I think the SEC just benefitted quite a bit from media exposure to get into BCS games.
Whenever there was a coinflip (like Okie Jr vs Bama), the slight sec favoritism always helped them get in. But to their credit, they won those games as well.
You cannot fault the SEC for taking full advantage of that favoritism. They were not going to complain and demand the favoritism go away. No league would have done so.
The playoff insures a much fairer selection option. It is not perfect, but obviously an upgrade.
The SEC was down this year, they just didn't play many tough out of conference games to show it, until the bowl season rolls around. People can say oh they didn't want to be there but Notre Dame didn't want to be at the Music City bowl any more than LSU and TCU didn't want to play in Peach Bowl any more than Ole Miss so that is a lame excuse. The flagship division of the SEC went 2-5 in their bowl games, I guess they weren't as stellar as ESecPN wanted to make them out to be.
They were down this year? They had 6 teams ranked in the top 10 at one point this season... I guess you're the only one who caught it

I WAS ALWAYS TAUGHT WHEN ONE STREAK ENDS START ANOTHER!!!
As much as I'd like to believe it's truly over I'm sure to open 2015 preseason polls the media will continue to boost sec. IMO only sec teams that should be ranked at all are Alabama around 10th, Georgia 15 or so. Maybe Missouri at 25. But we all know teams like Lsu, South Carolina, Auburn and maybe the miss schools will be given rankings they don't deserve. And even if these said schools are left out wins over 2 sunbelt teams and Vanderbilt will vault them into top 25 undeserved.
It took a great coach that had a lot of success in the SEC to change things. After about a decade of dominance the SEC haters finally have there day. It must of been hell for the haters to wait that long. Just saying.
