I suppose if we got every Reds player in the same VFW, gathered around the bar drinking Hoodie, they'd all say we're way too hard on Dusty. And to some end, yeah ... 24 teams in MLB are not even close to as good as the Reds on a bad day.

Give or take the freak win here and there.

But the team could be so much better, it hurts. I suppose I notice it more since I watch nearly every game on the MLB.tv feed and the ones I miss, I get later on condensed or highlight options.

But at that VFW drinking session, I think a lot of the players would concede that the reason they are in 2nd place, treading water, is because the Birds do what the Reds want to do.

The curve Dusty is graded on as a manager isn't condusive to positive change. His failings are far easier to resolve than say, teaching Cozart to hit or Manny Parra to get outs... or waiting on the farm or the free agent market to make better alternatives an option. The Manager might not be able to make Parra a better pitcher, or Cozart a better hitter (it would be nice if they DID improve a player occasionally), but a Manager DOES have the ability to reduce the frequency of NEED for them to, with decisions within his daily responsibilities. Not blowing a run or 3 with a bad move twice a week would reduce need for more bullpen use, and put less pressure on a .230 hitter to produce as a 2 hitter, for example.

It kills me to hear people say Dusty is criticized too much, especially when the media is so careful not to be. People infer that his critics are merely racist. In fact, the obvious media rigor of political correctness would suggest the opposite is true- he gets less criticism and is graded on a different scale because of his race. In my life, I've found sports to be the least descriminating of all occupations. They only care about GREEN. Unfortunately, sometimes there are ridiculous limitations to success because of loopholes that perpetuate mediocrity. Dusty fits that category to some degree, IMO.

Cozart finally drives in some runs so Dusty decides he needs to let Izturis play.
I can hit better than Izturis can.

If the whole league was made up of guys like Izturis, I could be a 20 game winner, with my 67 mph heater.

Izzy hit into a scorching DP ... clearly robbed by the deft-fielding Barney Fife and Fidel Castro.

Dustmop is a total retard. He had DROB in the 2 hole and that worked well. Then its back to Pop Tart Cozart whose league leading .412 popout % is killing the lineup. So today lets fix the 2 hole again and create an out on the back end of the order by sitting Cozart and starting Izturdus. So what is the reasoning behind that move? It didn't cost us the game but what did we gain by doing it? Is it gonna make Cozart a better hitter to sit a day? I wouldn't let Dustmop baby sit my dog as he that worthless of a manager. I would be afraid he would let the dog piss in the house and then have some fucked up reason why.

Dogs usually only need two reasons to piss in the house.

How on EARTH can a team with pitching that sucks as bad as the Cubs give up 1 hit in 5 innings? What the FUCK goes on in the Reds dugout?

Best pitcher the Reds have can't get into the game because he wasn't used in a situation that could have won the game in the 8th. Let's hear it for the stupid mentality of the closer.

(fuckin' idiot.)

Cozart reaches first in a game that calls for desperate measures. So what does he do? Stands there. Did it ever occur to Dustbin that stealing second base off of the terrible fielding Wellington Castillo might work?

Cozart stole 30 bases one year in the minors. He hasn't attempted one this year. Go figure.

It's a statement; "hit my way or lose". They did. The bullpen is toast, just to lose 1 game against a dead last team. That's prepping for tomorrow, huh? Too bad Bartman left Chicago. Can't wait to hear Dusty's excuse today.

This maybe a new chapter in Dusty's future autobiography-how to win a series and blow a bullpen on a single loss to a 100 loss team. What a getaway performance, huh?

This fucking scenario should have played out by now, but we'll see it over and over again. Goddammit Dusty, you can't always wait until the ninth fucking inning to win the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today's gaffe was just another example of why you will never win a World Series with an idiot like Dustmop at the helm. One fuck up like this in a playoff series is all it takes to show you to the door.
