Players on the Sox roster have a .157.205/.253 line against Moore, while the Rays players have a combined .227/.308/.364 line against Lester.

Ortiz fared much better against Moore than I thought, with a 6 for 13 line, including a homer and two doubles. Pedroia, Napoli, and Gomes have absolutely sucked against him.

He can do things like set up a trust fund that the mother can't touch and the kid gets when he's 18 or 21. He can personally buy things for the kid. Drop off a bunch of clothes and toys and stuff like that. Send food.

Trust funds the answer for the future, & personal involvement - footing education etc - til then. But seriously - 600/mo for a young kid living in the DR is a pretty nice piece of change. It should be totally about their kid - not her or her other 2.

Take pitches and see if the Sox can run his pitch count up. Of course Maddon will just leave him in there all day if he's being effective.

Delmon Young in the 5th spot shows how this Tampa lineup lacks depth. Sox should not throw him a first pitch fastball, and go way high with 2 strikes.

My hope is that Jennings is still bothered by that bad hammy and won't threaten on the bases. Aside from him, no speed in that Tampa lineup. How times have changed.

The Sox need to determine early if Moore is finding the strike zone. If he isn't, they need to work deep counts and get to the Tampa bullpen as early as possible. There's a lot of patience in that lineup aside from Middlebrooks.

add in the fact that the Red Sox have had a few days off... We have seen what happens when a situation like this happens. I am hoping the bats remain hot

Wow:

Baker challenged Reds GM: 'If you want to fire someone, fire me'

It all came to a head in one conversation, a conversation about a coach, and sources say Dusty Baker wasn't about to let a coach take the blame for what went down with the Reds this year.
Reds general manager Walt Jocketty in a year-end hash-out session about the team's dissatisfying season told Baker he was intending to fire hitting coach Brook Jacoby, according to a person familiar with the situation. And that was all Baker had to hear.
Baker wasn't the one who brought in Jacoby, but he also knew it wasn't Jacoby's fault. So Baker took the bold step that led to Jocketty ousting him as Reds manager.

"If you want to fire someone, fire me,'' Baker told Jocketty.

He might be...think he's more of a Berkshires kinda guy.

I just remember when he said 2004 wasn't relevant, but 1996 was. Or something to that effect.

I recall saying 2004 was ancient history and later that what the Yankees had over the last 20 years was very special. You can take that in whatever context you want but those are my feelings on the events, not a proclamation that one is superior or inferior of the other.

I'm sure many Sox fans feel the opposite to be true.

if it rains out on christmas eve, on a sunday, in the north pole, and santa clause takes LSD and shoots all the reigndeer and no kids get christmas presents the next day, then maybe the padres have a shot at .500 in 2014.

No this is the Padres we are talking about, they still find a way to lose more than 81 games.
