But from there the decline began four years before he arrived

Your whole post was a slight to Brady, not a praise of the head coach. I think that was pretty clear. You can try to dissect if I'm a Brady fan or a Pats fan but your opinion on that doesn't really matter. I think Belichick is the GOAT coach and Brady is the GOAT QB.

Your point would be valid if he didn't proceed to go 14 games under .500 in his next 5 seasons . I'm not arguing that he's awful. I'm saying, imo, he's an average coach who has improved but he was fortunate to get the greatest quarterback ever to allow him to do so. If he hadn't he would've been out in NE after year 2 or 3

It is valid because when you relates to the history of the club since 91 it shows the Browns flat out messed things up as I stated it would not have mattered who the coach was the management of the team was horrible.

I tend to agree with you Milia. Belichick is a defensive genius and helped Parcell win and thankfully we have had Weiss and now McDaniels as OC, and they have been huge. Now these guys make lousy HC's, and just like the Ryan family or Philips, great D minds and DC's but not HC material

That's fine, but it goes against the hyperbole that is thrown out there regarding Cassel in 2008. Which is why I brought up 2010 as an example. The "Belichick went 11-5 with Cassel" argument is used so often and the best example to counter that just happens to be Cassel himself. A QB can have a very good season, and even win a lot of games, if he has talent around him. Cassel happened to be in that scenario twice when we all know what Cassel really is. It's not something that is specific to Belichick or the Pats.

To be fair, he's had 2 noteworthy seasons, in an otherwise atrocious career, one with the aforementioned Pats, the other with the aforementioned historically great RB
