Has he tried becoming a DH? I know he pinch hit for the Marlins a number of times back in the day.

He was in the org 2 or 3 years ago and the Giants were not overly impressed, so he is just Fresno depth at this point. The Giants rotation is set, but we could always use some additional options for the #6 and #7 options.

Toss him in the mix along with Petit, Escobar, Kickham for the 6/7/8/9 options

Is he still a pitcher?

Dude takes some nice hacks at the plate.

Glad he's still trying. Hard to believe he's playing for the money at this point.

He has made almost 41M in his career and he has been a minor leaguer since 2011.

He is doing this as a hobby and or just for the love of the game at this point. The 90K a year (or whatever it is for a AAA contract with MLB experience) doesn't make a dent in his net-worth (assuming he wasn't an idiot when he was making money).

Gotta respect that, to an extent. I liked that Ricky never quit until he was practically escorted from the building. That shows a love for the craft that, I think, connects with the fans.
