The rule states that no student athlete, paid or unpaid cannot advertise a private business and remain an amatur or something like that. Apparently the players appeared and signed jerseys and other stuff, and also openly promoted a T-Town suit store in the town. I'm wondering did the NCAA investigate this I really don't remember much?

Multiple NCAA reps confirmed no violations from T-Town Menswear two years ago.Meanwhile the Tyler Texas Dixie Mafia rolls on.

I don't think the NCAA did anything with this, Bama did their own "investigation" and found nothing wrong.

excerpt from 8-13-11:

There would be no eligibility consequences for the student-athlete as long as they did not have any knowledge and the school issues a cease and desist notice,” says Stacey Osburn, NCAA spokesperson. “12.5.2.1 is not intended to prohibit businesses from displaying memorabilia, nor is it intended to prohibit current student-athletes from signing autographs. It is intended to prevent current student-athletes from jeopardizing their eligibility by selling their autographs or receiving remuneration for endorsing a particular product or service,” said another NCAA source who asked not to be identified - See more at: I Bleed Crimson Red: Why the NCAA doesn?t care about T-Town Menswear

The NCAA spokesperson is only speaking of the rule, never about whether anyone from Bama broke that rule.

Didn't even read what the potetial rule violation was, and I say, yes. Oh don't get me wrong, nothing will come of it.

Ya, have the 10 hp Evenrude strapped to my back, about 25 yds of line in the water and my zipper is down. Trolling for sure.

I think the key word here is openly and the next is old news but here's your parting gift for participating. Maybe you can give it to Johnny for his autograph! :noidea:
