Any word if Cabrera injured himself in "fight"? Would be a good reason to place him on the new "Until the Season is Over" Disabled List.

Tigers will be going no place with or without Justin Verlander. So......

Plan #1. Right now. Eat some (a lot?) of JV's salary, and trade him to Houston for their two best pitching prospects.

Plan #2. Wait until off season and do the same thing to any team.

Plan #3. Buy Upton a nice parting gift.

Plan #4. No parting gift for VMart. Give him his check for $18mil and show him the door. (Provide a golf cart so he can reach the door in less than two hours)

Plan #5. Trade Iglesias for pitching. Admit Vice was correct...Dixon Machado is the starting SS (sadly)

Plan #6. Castellanos to RF. Move his locker closer to EXIT door.

Plan #7. Trade Boyd, VerHagen and Farmer to Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for CTBN (cactii to be named)

Plan #8. Keep Kinsler....he needs the cash, man!

Plan #9. Find a real rare and cool sounding injury (or disease) for Miggy to be used as excuse for next year's 0.2 WAR. Like - 'Longitudinal Core Stress Syndrome'. Or 'Venezuelan Dehydrated Liver Disease'

I've been bucking for the Tigers to find some phantom injury to sit Miggy for a while now. There is zero to gain by having him play the rest of the year. Rest, rehab, and hit the reset button for next season, because we are stuck with him.

Miggy rebounding next season will also have the problem that he may lack no protection behind him in the order. Right now Castellanos looks like he'd be batting behind Miggy.

Doug...if MLB gave Sanchez a longer suspension, will that get Detroit closer to post-season play?

You mention nerve damage in the same sentence as a pitcher, he shouldn't be pitching. There's nothing to gain from his five starts in September. (He did pitch well the other night. Got jobbed on that homer by the altitude.)

Looks like the Upton deal is done. Tigers get AA pitching prospect Grayson Long. He's 8-8 with a 2.69 ERA in A+ and AA this season. Tigers will pay some of Upton's remaining contract for this season, but the Angels assume all of the $88.5 million for the four seasons after that.

I was gonna be okay with whatever happened on this front tbh. He's a fine player and I genuinely like the dude. I like the way he carries himself.

Hitting between Trout and Pujols can't be a bad deal for a guy to finish out a very productive season.

The first four months of Justin's tenure in Detroit were absolute puke.
