With the new realignment, I think it's inevitable that they will either instill the DH in the NL or take it out in the AL. And, IMO they will probably do the former. All they need is another Chin-Ming Wong type injury to give them the leverage, and it will be a sad, sad day for the Senior Circuit fans

played baseball growing up since i was 5. never once did i play in a league with a DH. Learn to hit.

I like this sentiment. I'm accustomed to the DH since I follow the AL more closely than the NL, but if I were to strip it down to it's most basic elements and think back to what I liked about playing scratch baseball games with my friends when I was younger I come to this conclusion without any quibbling..

I would've hated pitching in a game without the opportunity to bat.

The NL really is the purer of the two games. I love seeing players associated with the DH in the twilight of the careers continue to play, however. This is where substitution greatly adds to the NL-style game, imo.

AL guy here and I don't like the DH. That being said I really wish pitchers could hit better than they do.

It was a rare occurrence but Huddy went 2 for 3 yesterday against the Gnats. :yahoo:

I won't say that I will no longer be a fan of the game, but I cannot imagine continuing to be a nut about the game if this happens.

The DH is such a cop-out. A "Baseball for Dummies" solution. Why not simply make the game a home run contest? Then you only see the best of the best play. Remove the annoying speedster on 1st distracting the pitcher. Get rid of the defensive wizard SS who ends a rally by turning two. Eliminate the pesky 3B who robs a batter of a double down the line.

This will make the game clinical and will rob so many of the nuances and intricate strategies that make managers and players think. I am dreading the day it ever comes to the NL. Dreading it.

I understand, I want it as is forever. I don't watch NL ball as much. The part that gets me is depending on a guy in a key situation to drive in runs when he doesn't do that. But that is why you have pinch hitters, still what if your SP is in the zone--pitching a gem.

I still love the tradition and it shouldn't be changed. AL-DH, NL-no DH...it just makes sense

Gotta agree with this. I love those World Series matchups when the strengths of each league are showcased.. the AL having the DH when it's in their ballpark (with their established DH player) and the NL having the upperhand in strategizing when it comes to pinch-hitting for a pitcher. In these situations, ideally the NL squad has a guy who's pretty servicable as a 4-5 at-bat DH when the need arises.

It somehow makes the game richer for me.

If pitchers would learn to hit, fine. Who wants to see a pitcher stand up there and strike out with runners on base or bunt a runner over from first with one out?

Raises hand.

It takes more strategy in the NL than in the AL.

I hate the DH, always have.

The whole concept of the batting order should be abolished. Each team could just send up their best hitters every AB. Why get stuck having to see the #7, #8 and #9 hitters bat in the 8th inning?

The NL is basically the only league who doesn't gave a dh.
