There it is. Couldn't sum up the Lloyd McClendon era of Mariner baseball more accurately then that.

Wilhelmsen, Leone, Rodney, Farquar, Medina, Maurer. All went from dominate to dogshit (or were traded in Maurer's case).

Cano has continued to suck against left handed pitching even as his success against right handers has dramatically improved. And he probably needs a day off, so I kind of understand it. But sitting Zunino against a left handed pitcher makes no sense whatsoever. I wonder if maybe Felix requested Sucre today.

i don't think this is a Felix request. I think this is a typical LMC managing by the book and sitting the regular catcher on a day game after a night game regardless of present performance.

Yep. Good call. The 'day game after a night game' thing makes more sense. I forgot about that. I hate to see Zunino sit right now. He's raised his BA 23 points in the last 8 games. I realize that, as a catcher, he can't start every game. Just sucks that it has to happen now. This is probably the best 8-game streak of his entire MLB career.

I read this and thought it must be a mistake, or that I had read it wrong.

1. Felix normally always pitches better when Zunino is catching, once again demonstrated by the 4 runs Felix has already given up.
2. Zunino is hitting .393/.433/.643 the past 8 games.

I was going to call Lloyd a moron for benching Cano too, but I just heard he has an abdominal strain.
