You made it way too complicated. OU, okie jr, Texas and Tech would bolt to the pac. The big ten would grab Kansas right away, then settle on the only AAU school left, Iowa state. Then West Virginia becomes the hottest chick left, and lets the SEC and ACC swoon over them. ACC adds Notre Dame either way, and if they lose out on WV they grab UCONN. SEC needs 1 more school, if they're smart they grab one of the left over Texas schools, but they seem to have that silly 1 school per state thing, so they settle on Kansas state hoping a KSU vs Mizzou rivalry develops. Mizzou is the wildcard in this entire scenario, I could see them begging the Big ten to take them.

I was thinking the Big Ten and SEC just wouldn't settle for Iowa State and Kansas State. They're the two conferences that least need to settle. Iowa State gives the Big Ten virtually nothing. And if Missouri defects to the Big Ten, Kansas State is of even more dubious worth to the SEC than with Missouri.

Didn't FSU and Clemson need a home not long ago

The ACC is basically invulnerable until we approach the expiration of their grant of media rights in 2036. Any ACC school that leaves the conference before then still forfeits their media rights to the ACC.

The last thing the PAC needs is a school full of cultist.

Call me a glutton for chaos but it's my dream to have Cal to go to Provo once a year and BUY to invade Berekley.

Meh, I want to see the Stanford band aggrevate BYU.

To each his own, trolling is funny but I wouldn't mind seeing the Cal students burn down Berekley so they can finally drop their athletic department.

At that point they'd have no choice, based on their own rules and what's left. No, the Big ten doesn't want Iowa state, but they'd be the last AAU school left.

SEC wouldn't mind West Virginia and KSU, both decent sized stadiums and two more states for the network.

Good points. But I suppose the SEC and Big Ten would have the option of sticking at 15 members. That's not ideal from a scheduling standpoint, but the Big Ten was fine with 11 for 18 years.

Unlike the SEC, the B1G plays a 9 game conference schedule. I can't see the need of a 14 member conference adding anymore members if they don't intend on playing them.

Iowa State would bring another solid basketball program to the BIG and Iowa State/ Iowa would make for a really good watch on their conference network for alot of folks outside of their region imo.
Yea last go round nobody wanted the same schools/programs in the same footprint ect. but I think things may be a little different if there is another round of realignment. I think(and hope) that the tv folks have realized that college sports are not pro sports and decide to air games that would actually appeal to the CFB fanbases.

AAU membership is not a requirement for B1G membership, it is a preference. Example: Despite Notre Dame not being an AAU member, you can be confident that the B1G would take the Fighting Irish as full members (beginning this year, Notre Dame will be a member of the B1G for hockey only). Of course Notre Dame joining the B1G as full members is not happening as Notre Dame is contractually obligated to join the ACC if the Irish eventually join a conference for football.

But again, AAU membership is not a requirement for B1G membership.... it's only a preference.

And...
Come on folks... time to stop smokin' the Viagra... Iowa State will not be picked up by the B1G if the Big 12 collapses... that is ridiculous. The B1G is already in the Iowa market with the Hawkeyes. Heck... Iowa State has a better chance of becoming a member of the PAC or ACC than the B1G. Realistically, if the Big 12 collapses, Iowa State and K-State will most likely wind up in either the American or MWC.

Saying that the B1G would take Iowa State if the Big 12 collapses is like saying the SEC would take Baylor or Texas Tech if the Big 12 collapses... it's a laughable idea!

The only schools the B1G would realistically consider poaching from a collapsing Big 12 would be Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas... with perhaps a very very slight outside chance at a small private Texas school with good academics such as Baylor or TCU (in order to perhaps get a B1G foothold in the state of Texas)... but... Baylor and TCU would probably be more attractive to the ACC since the ACC is comfortable with already having multiple small private schools as members (Miami, Duke, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Boston College).

While I'm still skeptical that the Big Ten would add Iowa State and the SEC would add Kansas State, I think it'd be great if they did. Here's a potential map for that scenario:

As for K-State, the Big Ten certainly wouldn't take them, but what about the SEC? They have a decent football program, it would be a new state for the conference, and the SEC doesn't care much about academics.

I agree that Baylor and Texas Tech are not in the cards for the SEC, but how about TCU? They don't seem all that unlikely an add.

If the Big XII breaks apart.
I just can't see how any conference wouldn't take Oklahoma and Texas together as a package deal.

Huge National Draw by both.
