Welcome to Mr. Lonely's tavern. Where only those not smart enough or tenured enough go because they have to be at work today.

Come to wish ill on anyone that is rude enough to still be sleeping while the rest of us are shleping....

With Balfour out, will the artist formerly known as K-Rod be in?

According to several reports the Orioles have targeted Fernando Rodney as their top closer choice now that their deal with Grant Balfour has fallen apart, but they also need a fallback option to Rodney too.
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun suggests that it might be Francisco Rodriguez, writing that the Orioles “recently reached out to Rodriguez’s camp to see if he’d at least be willing to consider a return with the closer situation undefined.”
Baltimore acquired Rodriguez from Milwaukee in July, but used him in a middle relief role and manager Buck Showalter rarely put him into anything resembling a high-leverage situation. He pitched well overall with a 2.70 ERA and 54/14 K/BB ratio in 47 innings.

Speaking of Balfour,....the Yankees?

And, maybe even the Rays are now interested. No word on if either is real serious, or, if either is looking for him to be their closer specifically.

Good morning & happy holidays, gents. Miss me? Yeah, I didn't think so. F you, too. :suds:

Feeling a little nostalgic today knowing there will be no more games of any kind at Candlestick Park. I went to a concert there earlier this summer after not being there in over 10 years and it definitely took me back. I remember freezing my ass off in the middle of summer, wearing jackets & scarves in July while watching the Giants play. Gonna miss the place. But at the tune of $350+ for rafter seats at tonight's game?? All yours, 9er fans.

It's about time they blew up Windlestick. An absolutely HORRIBLE yard. Always was.

I will be looking forward to seeing a 49er game in Santa Clara though. Probably in 5 or so years, once the bloom is off the rose, and if I don't need to take out a loan to afford tickets....

Yes it is. Especially since I have to drive 3 hours on Xmas Day (probably will be longer) only to have to drive back that same night to be at work at 8am Thursday

I still don't understand why the Redsox don't go after Nelson Cruz guy has a perfect swing for Fenway

1) They don't want to make any more big $$ investments this year?

2) They are taking the moral high road when it comes to confirmed cheaters?

While I would hope it would be reason one, logic tells me it has to be much closer to # two.

Well, I guess the Dodgers just signed Chris Perez to be yet another bridge/bullpen arm.

Just don't ask me any questions on the greater why this is, as it is beyond me. He made $ 7.3 mil last year. If the Dodgers are giving him anything over $ 2 mil per, then this is a big time rip off.
