He may or may not be and may or may not be willing to leave and by now after all the screwed up tweets I may or may not care to read any more about it.......UGH......wish these guys would quit running with sources until they validate them.

What does "not expected to leave" mean?....not expected to be offered the job? Doesn't make any sense to me how or why LSU came up with his name (if true). Is it possible Stiney threw his name out there once the position became open?

I didn't hear anything this past season, but I often wondered how Stiney and Loeffler were getting along. Can't be too easy for the new OC and old OC to sit in the booth together every game.

now this, from the guys that originally started this rumor from what I can tell:

"Correcting an earlier report on the Ticker, LSU is not interviewing Virginia Tech assistant Bryan Stinespring. The coach the Tigers, at the least, have inquired about is Virginia Tech offensive line coach Jeff Grimes."

I am not worried about Grimes leaving, though.

I wouldn't be so sure. If LSU came after Grimes..who is to say he wouldn't entertain it?? He has great credentials and reputation...a good resume. Has coached in the SEC, and is a Texan. This is not even taking into account that LSU's pockets are much deeper than VT's.

Welp, time for VT to empty their pockets....quick get 'er done before we have an AD to intervene.

sounds like Grimes was interested and did interview but LSU is probably going to go in a different direction. Let me tell you, this had my heart rate up this weekend. Losing Grimes right now would be a big blow.

We need to pony up for some of these assistants now if we have any dreams of doing things in years to come....

sounds like we ought not get too excited about the future of the o-line...if Grimes doesn't get the LSU gig, and stays at VT, great for us...but the fact that he is already shopping around after his 1st year at VT, doesn't give me the impression that he's going to be around for that long

Well, if anything can be taken away from the Grimes thing its that the new AD better figure out a way to pay up for assistants. The landscape has changed. It's going to very tough to even stay competitive much less win on a national level without splurging up and down the coaching roster

I don't like the sound of this...

Jeff Grimes

Not sure what it says since a lot of the blurbs are pay-board blocked, but losing Grimes would be a lot more than just losing the immense coaching talent. It would show that the talented coaches at VT, when a program comes calling, can be cherry-picked with no resistance. Jim Weaver has done a lot of good for the program but refuses to open up the purse strings to pay coaches what they deserve, ESPECIALLY when competition comes calling. Maybe Frank isn't advocating for raises right now, or the results on the field over the last two years don't merit it, but Grimey leaving would be further signs of the program back-sliding instead of moving forward.

Sometimes I think the Sugar Bowl loss broke the football program's brain. It hasn't been the same since.

I've yet to see any reporter (credible or not) say its a done deal. All I see is message board "insiders". Still, is it too late to start a Kickstarter to boost Grimes' salary? Maybe we can give him James Johnson's salary. He sure as hell isn't earning it with the b-ball team right now

Grimes has done more in 10 months than Newsome did in his tenure. It's a damn shame that VT can't keep him. Maybe we can bring in Todd Washington this time.
