um do you get the concept of

"profit is not the primary goal" and im saying that in the context of that they are not designed to make the university money. alabama football doesnt pay the university of alabama's bills. alabama pays the bills of alabama athletics and thats it

i feel like its only the fanbase's of dumb schools that have an issue with understanding this

I don't think anybody on here has a problem understanding your retard level comprehension of economics...nor does anybody on here miss that you are an arrogant douchebag who just likes to hear himself talk. Why don't you tell us all about snow again....

im just saying yall act like this is Profit profit profit........like business model

and im saying thats not the case at all and you posted a good example as too why

Schools not footing their own bills and creating a proft in some form or another, do not have construction projects yearly. They instead build when the funds are there to do so or they hit boosters and alumni up for bigger checks. This is being done, but only due to the size of the growth that the school is currently under and they want to get the projects done to move on to other things to increase the student body size. That campus is growing by leaps and bounds and some of the finest facilities in the country are currently there or are being built for not only sports, but sciences, technology, medical, law and all across the student body.

It's called creating alumni. I.E. Future donors. Not all donors play/played football.

The athletic department is solvent/self supporting and doesn't need support from other means.

It's a fantastic business model.

Kmart would be in envy.

You are arguing to be arguing.

you will have a VERY hard time arguing that those sports "make back" their money in donations.

theres just no way......

Why, is it not true that they have unprecedented growth due to this one hire?
Is it not true that "The athletic department money has followed suit: 2012 produced revenue of $124.5 million and profit of $19.4 million, according to data from USA Today, up from $67.7 million in revenue and $7.1 million in profit in 2007."?
Is it not true that the school is raking in money from out of state students that totaled 52% of its incoming freshmen class in 2012?

All of this is attributable to one hire which is the best investment they have made and he spoke the truth. i would rather here the truth than a lie, especially since we dont get that often in today's world. PC is for pussies, truth is for real men not afraid to say it.

and again that money is not going to the average bammer taking classes

I'd hope the average bammer is paying for his/her own classes.

Are you one of those "everybody should get a free college education" folk?

That had nothing to do with what I replied to. Once again you're arguing just to argue.

no its not, but this is but the tip of the iceberg and shows me you didnt read the articles i posted.

Since 2007, Tuscaloosa has swelled its undergraduate ranks by 33% to over 28,000 students. Faculty count has kept pace: up 400 since 2007 to over 1,700. But it’s more than growth – it’s where the growth is coming from. According to the school, less than a third of the 2007 freshman class of 4,538 students hailed from out of state. By the fall of 2012, more than half (52%) of a freshman class of 6,397 students did. Various data from US News and the New York Times shows that the school’s out-of-state tuition cost – nearly three times higher than the rate for in-state students – rose from $18,000 to $22,950 a year during that period.

Add it all up – more students from outside Alabama paying ever-increasing premium tuition bills – and the school realized $50 million more in out-of-state tuition revenue for last fall’s incoming class than it did for the same class in 2007 ($76 million vs. $26 million). Kick in the additional $8.5 million in in-state tuition, which rose to $9,200 a year from $6,400 over the same period, and overall tuition revenue rose to $104 million from $46 million for the respective 2012 and 2007 freshman classes. And to boot, the school’s most recent capital campaign (i.e. donations from alumni and others) raised $600 million for scholarships and facilities, the most ever.

Increased revenue from $26 million to over $76 Million in 6 years. Sounds like a big jump to me and a business model on the rise. Add in $600 million for scholarships and facilities raised and that says its growing by leaps and bounds. Sadly you just want to argue, but have no facts to back up your argument.
