and if he were a UFA he would immediately be offered a contract worth $25m+ a year for 4+ years.

Several factors play into this.

1. His size as Bogut proves you do not have to be very good to be paid $14m.
2. He is extremely skilled offensively and a nightmare in clutch situations and from half court in an AS challenge.
3. All of his stats took a hit and he still holds his own against other centers. His rebounding takes an additional hit thanks to his team shooting a record FG% but he still grabs 13.4% of available rebounds (still 4th among the 6).
4. He is a PF playing Center on a size challenged team. This makes him appear more "finesse" than he actually is, which admittedly is still farily finesse.
5. His D is pretty good against PFs and more than adequate against Cs.

CB's on court production is worth every penny of a $100m.

a 6' 10" PF who will give you 20-8? So many players with half his skills get so much more money.

Chris Bosh as a #1 option worked out so well for the Raptors.....Now I'm going to offer a 31 yr old Bosh the max to be the top dog on my team?

Depends on the pieces surrounding Bosh. If he came to a team like Phoenix with Dragic, Bledsoe, Green, Frye, etc. he wouldn't be relied on TOO heavily, but at the same time he would probably get you 20-8 with a block and steal a game. (this is just a random scenario)

I agree with the OP. Bosh will get a max deal.

Of course he's a max player.
He's an all star NBA player every season.
He is extremely smart. Not many players could adjust their game to near the levels he does.
He has to adjust to multiple lineup situations on both sides of the court.

Pistons say they will match a max offer for Monroe. He's not in the same sentence with Bosh.

He's always a borderline max player and if a team wants him out of Miami they can entice him with a max deal

He's very good--never in the same league as Lebron or Wade but those guys are two of the top 5 players the past 12-15 yrs

LOLL Did you just say Bogut is not good??????

No disrespect but Bogut is overpaid big time. If you guys had the Bogut before all his injuries then I would say no he's not overpaid but he is. He's getting paid 14 mill to avg 8 PPG and 10 RPG? Cut his contract in his have for those numbers.

And how many has Kevin Love won?
Yet fan bases are drooling over him and the max contract he will demand.

No disrespect but Love is much better than Bosh. Everyone with a brain knows that Bosh is at best a 2nd option and everyone with a brain knows that Love is a 1 or 1A option.

Not necessarily disagreeing on who I would prefer to have, but I don't see your logic.

Love has been the 1 or 1A option, but has yet to win a playoff game, so why/ how does he rise to a level above Bosh?

Bosh is a better shooter/ defender. Love is a better rebounder.

For players like both of them, it comes down to the players surrounding them.

Bosh is very inconsistent when it counts. If you don't believe me just look at his numbers vs Indy in the playoffs last year and how can I forget his 0 point performance in game 7 of the finals. If not for Battier being red hot in that game, Miami loses game 7 thanks to his 0 point performance even though Wade and James was outstanding

* 8 and 11. But offense is not his big asset. He's a elite defensive player elite rebounder, good passer. He could be a defensive player of the year candidate. I think he's worth it when healthy

14 mill is still way too much for someone who isn't that much of a factor. That is a max contract, you do realize that right? Are you seriously telling me that Bogut deserve a max contract?

Totally agree.
The thing is, this isn't MLB where the best are paid more then the very good.
So, based on that alone,
assuming every team would want to have a best/ max player, Bosh is a top 30 NBA player.

He's a big factor to this team. By the way 3 years 36 million isn't a max contract
