Game Thread: Canada Vs USA - winner plays for gold

Im not gonna completely bury canada ... I think they will play better against guys they know inside and out like the americans as opposed to the unknown automotons from countries who play on the big ice all season long

Im still waiting for the "they were like gorillas coming out of the cage" game ... might still happen

Team Canada should play a little better against a team they know more - this will be a very interesting game - I'm not ready to count out Canada yet but if Team USA plays like they have this entire tournament, I have them winning the game - I think goaltending is a big difference - Jonathan Quick just knows how to get it done in big time games and Carey Price hasn't succeeded in big games yet

I would like to see Team USA play a better first period on Friday, the first period today wasn't that strong, although they led after one period

Would love to see Patrick Kane step up - this is his type of game

I love watching the Olympic games, love the play. And I want the US to win. I just dont care that much. I probably rank it as important to me as one regular season game.

If the US doesnt win I hope Canada goes on to win. I would like to see Carey and PK win, amongst others.

If Finland wins I will be happy for Teemu.

I just think Patrick Kane has a big game waiting to happen - the difference between him and Crosby(they're both due and they're big game players) is that none of the other forwards on Team Canada(sans Jeff Carter) are scoring any, which might make it tougher on Crosby, while on Team USA, a lot of the other forwards are scoring a ton and Patrick Kane knows if he steps up and has a big game, that it would be the difference in the game

Canada's forwards haven't been scoring, but I'm not concerned. There is enough talent and experience there that it's just been a combination of puck luck and got goaltending so far. And with existing chemistry, I'm thinking one of Crosby/kunitz, getzlag/Perry or toews/sharp generated a goal tomorrow.

USA has been scoring but haven't faced a quality D team yet. The best team they faced was Russia and only scored 2 on the power play. Canada needs to avoid a wide open game, play puck possession and grind them down. The biggest weapon they have is speed and scoring, so watch out for the counter attack.

The good news for Canada is that they've played against these guys - no surprises.
