ill echo alot of other peoples sentiments with a big fat meh

wash , rinse, repeat if youre new to international hockey lol

this is canada ... this is how we do it ... pedestrian starts until we can figure things out ... i think its all about the players being so concerned about playing/picking up their system and truth be told they finally figure it out and mesh after a couple games and they stop thinking so much about 'THE SYSTEM"

A very Italian national soccer team-like performance by Team Canada today.

Didn't they beat Norway 8-0 their first game at Vancouver in 2010?

I was expecting to get negged for that reply...

/But I agree with you, do what you need to do (as the Azzurri does) to make it to the knockout round, then turn it up a few notches.

Also hope Sweden chokes to the likes of Belarus or Slovakia.

It's too bad Canada played Norge and not Deutschland - then it could have been an Azzurri like performance (minus the Norwegian ref)

But you know what, not gonna hate on my neighbors to the north. The Doobster graciously congrats Canada on their well earned victory :suds:

But if Herb Brooks's team played like this against Norway,

Call me crazy, but I'll take zero shots on goal against in a period anytime. If that's a meh performance, sign me up for more of that meh.

Agreed. While Canada can win playing any type of hockey, pick possession is our best bet and Babcock is the guy to drive that home. We can win a wide open high scoring game but don't know if it's our best chance, considering the big ice, Canada's relative weakness in goaltending and high offense of the other teams.

I have to disagree with this being a good game for Canada. Being tested by Norway is not the way to start out the Olympics if you're the favorites for the gold. Not saying they should be ashamed of themselves, but this won't cut it against higher level competition.

I have to disagree with the idea that they were all that "tested" in the first place. Other than the somewhat close scoreboard, I didn't really see it. Like I said yesterday in another thread, the difference between four goals and zero goals in this game given the exact same play is often incredibly tiny and random. I didn't think they played fantastic or anything, but they still dominated the puck and the play.

I don't think they want to get in front of Shea Webber's shot.

I would not blame Patrick Thoresen one bit if he didn't want to get in front of that shot, after what happened to him before
