The dude admits when he screwed up. Wish we had a manager as forthright.

Back to the subject- The Cardinals are human, as they've shown lately. The Braves are running away with the East, and the Nats are falling apart in DJ's lame duck year. The Phillies are old, lifeless and managed by a very Dusty-esc Manuel. The Dodgers are hot, the DBacks and Padres are as limited as before, and the Pirates didn't seem to think they needed to make a trade deadline move, while climbing to superior heights after 2 decades of futility. The Cubs and Brewers suck, but they've won more games in the West than our Reds.

Even though the Reds are in 3rd place, and looking like a team willing to fritter away the highest payroll in their history, they are currently a wildcard worthy record...albeit a one game playoff wildcard, against the Cardinals or Pirates, teams they haven't proven to have the ability to better so far. The head to head schedule going down the stretch will tell all.

There comes a day, in most teams talent level, there really isn't next year, realistically. Choo is a free agent, and if there is a plan to replace him, please don't tell me it's another low OBP minor leaguer with speed tools for Dusty to work with. Bailey and Leake and Latos have improved, Cingrani has potential. Cueto is an injury concern, and the bullpen is a mystery too. Frazier hits like a 30 something Rolen, Cozart like a 30 something Rentaria. Phillips has become a .260 cleanup hitter with lots of RBI, but no more HR. Bruce is still improving, and Votto still the only .300 hitter.

Dusty is always Dusty.

Time keeps ticking.
