Baylor...

Average's 42 points per game, in the first half.
63.9 overall points per game ranks 1st in the ncaa.

They have yet to be punched in their mouth. They just come out and run people over and go to the locker up 6 scores at the half.

KSU is the only team to slow them down holding them to only 21 points in the first half

If we come out with the Texas vagina fungus, we are screwed. Hopefully we make it 22-1 lifetime!

gonna be a tough game and losing Millard made it even tougher. Ripkowski is gonna have to step up his game, but you can't just replace a guy like Millard.

Keep telling you guys this defense is going to keep OU in every game. Sure they have their issues but how many times did they take the ball away from Tech the other day? The attitude is back on D and I love it. We may still lose to Baylor but it will be an offensive failure not due to the defense giving up 60.

Furthermore the days of Brent Vunerables are over in Soonerland. Did you see how Clemson sucked against FSU? Brent all over again. There are times that the offense isn't clicking and the defense has to keep you in the game until they can get on track. This defense is doing that in spades.

I agree with you there...the D will get better as players get more use to the system and coach's actually start caring about recruiting and coaching up the players. It's crazy the amount of freshman that have been starting or getting a good amount of playing time on defense. Notice it's not Seniors or Juniors as much but the younger players. I swear in their later years, Shipp and Venerables just logged on to Rival's saw what players wanted to come to OU and offered them a scholarship.

I like this D a lot even with the injuries, they haven't missed much. The offense is starting to show signs of life. As long as the Baylor game doesn't turn into a shoot out and we can keep that offense off the field with sustained drives that eat up a bunch of clock, I think we should be alright.

T.O.P is top priority in this one.

good point...that would be outstanding

4-0 would be even more outstanding. And it's not out of reach imo. Even without Millard the OU offense matches up perfectly to keep Baylor off the field. Easier with Millard, of course...but still doable. On defense, Zach Sanchez is the key...Baylor will attack him from the get go. If he plays well, OU wins the game imo. If Baylor gets a couple of long TD passes though, it's going to be a long night for the Sooners.

One can only hope that Striker is in Baylor's backfield enough to cause problems so Sanchez isn't picked on all night long. You know that's where Baylor will attack as Sanchez has a tendency to peek into the backfield instead of staying with his man.

Baylor's BIG XII victories:
Home vs. WVU...102th Def/78th Off = 73-42 wvu scored 42 on them? they only got 7 on us.
KSU @ KSU........44th Def/71st Off = 35-25 texas/osu beat ksu by similar margins
Home vs. ISU.....115th Def/101st Off = 71-7 700+ yards and benefit of 3 turnovers
KU @ KU...........101st Def/117th Off = 59-14 KU got 2 turnovers...BU passed to 7 diff rec. & had two 100 yd rushers

OU 9th Def/50th Off

I'd say you could cut their pts in half for this game compared to their typical home game avg of 70 pts. This defense has been developed for this kind of team. We're banged up in the front, but if KSU can hold Seastrunk to 59 yds I'd imagine we would be capable of doing the same. Our CB's will be jumping some routes, so the S's will need to be on point.

With the extra week before Notre Dame, we put up 35 pts on the NOW 32nd ranked defense. Yeah, 14 of those were the direct result of defensive play...but the offense has really progressed in the two games since the anomaly.

Now don't get me wrong...I think the line isn't far off what it should actually be. OU -12.5 is just enough to lure Baylor honks into putting down some money, and just shy of what OU honks would want. All reasonable examination of the numbers would have BU as a 9 pt favorite at least.

But texas had no chance of beating us...right?

I know we were a 33 point dog against Neb in '95.

When is the last time OU came in as a 12.5 dog?

I don't know but I love it! Look at the history of Bob Stoops coached teams. They do incredibly well when nobody gives them a chance. That is the one area where Bob gets it right. He knows how to make the players feel slighted by the media perception. Too bad he has never figured out how to make them feel the same way when they are front runners.

Had to be 2009. 2008 was NCG year and I don't think the Sooners where even a dog in that game.

It would have to be whatever year Sam went down...was that '09?

I think you're right.
