He told the truth, Ditka owes that Lombardi to Buddy, that's why the players carried him off the field as well as Ditka, they knew.....He was what the old timers used to call, a real rascal....
Feisty as all get out but that 46 D he created is still being talked about and variated today.... He was a brilliant DC..
Those boys are as nuts as he was but not as good as the old man....

The loyalty of his Bears players towards him was second to none. I remember watching a story earlier in the year that showed how Singletary still visited & took care of Ryan. I can't remember another coordinator being carried off the field after a SB.

Second maybe to the loyalty of his Eagles players towards him. Not saying it's a competition, that was one of his major talents as a leader. Seth Joyner and a couple of guys from that Eagles defense got to go hang with him last weekend. Joyner and Keith Byars were both on radio earlier today at the same time. It was awesome hearing how much they loved the guy.

Man, Buddy was the best...If nothing else, he was ALWAYS entertaining...

Never forget when he was coaching Arizona, his team was like 3-9 at the time and he was being interviewed on TV. I forget the question, but his answer was "A Buddy Ryan coached team is tough to beat..." It was so off the wall for a team that was getting crushed every week that season, but that was pure Buddy Ryan...

Guy was an A-hole. But man did those Bears guys love him. I liked the 30 for 30 show esp. when the players visited him at his home. You could tell his time was about up, but he loved those guys.

DId I know him as a person, I did. I knew him personally, met and talked/listened to him on more than one occasion.
