Why? We have TEs that can block and bring in 247 yards on the team. How about we give abates another year?

Bates looks like a blocking TE. Bryant looks like the better receiving TE. You dont think TE is a weakness on this team?

Your own article calls Bryant a blocking TE. 250 yards is not something I trade for.

TE is the biggest weakness on the team but Bryant won’t change that. If you trade for him, it is still the biggest weakness on the team.

I thought he had receiving ability in college. He can do both. The article mentioned he can be a good pass blocker. I dont trust Thomas staying healthy fora full 17 games.

Here is the quote from your article.

“Bryant only ranked as Pro Football Focus' 43rd tight end (among 73 qualifiers) this past season, but he did earn a top-10 mark at the position for his pass blocking. Considering his modest offensive production, Bryant would be a fine TE2 for another team.”

Top ten in pass blocking and acknowledges a generous “modest offensive production.“. He had 17 more receptions than Bates last season and 131 more yards. He was also only graded 2.3 higher than Bates. That is not worth a draft pick.

The receptions are down b/c he was not the #1 TE. They have Njoku. Thomas is injury prone; Turner is unproven and already had an injury, Bates was drafted as a pass blocker. Why not take a shot? Im saying a late round pick.

Dean sometimes doesn't get his own propaganda straight. This has happened to me.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Bryant is a light receiving tight end with below-average length and good top-end speed. He's an instinctive and slippery open-field runner with the strength to pick up yards after initial contact. He's fast enough to make plays down the seam. Bryant made some tough catches, but we also counted three drops against Ohio State in 2019. -- Steve Muench

Draft profile says receiving TE.

Well…I mean if it was from four years ago, it must still be valid.

Ummm…that was the most he has ever had in a season dude.

I could say Bates would have had more receptions too if he was the number one TE.

Why waste a late round pick which can end up a good player on a guy that was a fourth round pick and has proven he was worth a late round pick?

If Bryant had shown anything, I would be fine with trading for him. All he has shown is NOTHING.

I don't know about him but our TE's are a weak spot Bates is mostly a blocker and Thomas is kinda washed up

im just pointing out he was a receiving TE coming into the draft. Are you going to argue about giving up a 6th or 7th round pick?

No…that was the claim…without looking at who he payled for in college.

Why would I argue about it? I just think it is a waste.

He came into the draft as a receiving TE. Are you trying to tell me that you wouldn't trade a 6th for him?

I am not trying…I have stated I would not trade a sixth for him. He was drafted in the 4th and has done the following:

2020- 24 receptions, 238 yards, 3 TDs
2021- 21 for 233 and 3
2022- 31 for 239 and 1

Compare that to John Bates rookie season of 20 receptions for 249 yards and a TD. Why would I give up a draft pick for a player that is not an upgrade for what we have?
