They are a well built team, but losing Harden for Lamb has forced Westbrook and Durant to have to play at a high level every night in order to have the record they currently have.
Honestly, they'd be able to absorb that just fine if they didn't do that awful Jeff Green for Perkins trade

Durant for MVP story line will either be broken or made with this.

1st I do not think that OKC will drop below a 4 seed in those 27 games. They are still better than LAC imo and HOU is kind of starting roll but not completely. This could just be HOU.

Next if Durant steps up his game we are talking the hands on MVP favorite.

I tend to think this is not that big of a deal until the finals. OKC will want home court for that but no matter what they are coming out of the west regardless of seeding, as long as they are healthy.

If Westbrook proves he can no longer keep those knees healthy OKC indeed missed their window. Very sad times, never take anything for granted.

Nah. This is Reggie Jackson's chance to be a household (basketball) name

Totally forgot about their bench, they are going to be fine, and Durant if anything is going to secure his 2nd place for the MVP again when Reggie rocks it enough for them to keep with in a few games of the #1 seed.

Losing Westbrook won't help the Thunder but they have the depth to cope better than most posters in this thread appear to believe.

Last year the Thunder didn't have Steven Adams who looks to me like a contender for ROY. And Kendrick Perkins seems to be healthier than he has been in a long time.

This Oklahoma native is far from giving up on them.

GO THUNDER!

What quack did the original surgery? That will be the last one he ever does.

As much as I hate the Thunder, this news sort of sucks. Now if Portland wins on Tuesday everyone will claim it is only because Westbrook is out.

Because it will be true.

ALL surgeons fail occasionally. Just as the even best shooters brick a few.

We have ZERO evidence that the surgeons who participated in this operation were quacks. Don't act as if we did.

The problem was simply a stitch came loose. I would assume that is because Russell came back too early or even simpler he is an elite athlete who is going to abuse his knees more than almost anybody on the planet.

It was not causing him pain just an abnormal amount of swelling post game so the went in for a series of MRI's. From the sounds of the injury I am surprised he will be out 2 months. I assume that is in order to be more cautionary in his return 2.0.

Thunder will be ok. But I'd make damn sure Westbrook is 110% healthy when he gets back. 3 surgeries on the same knee is not going doing the right path.

OKC should be fine. If they can still be in top 3 seed position when he comes back within striking distance of the top 2 seed, I think they will get it.

The Thunder will fine as long as fine is defined as in the top 3 teams, and making the playoffs without a chance to win in the finals. They have already proven they couldn't do that without Harden and they for sure are not doing it without Harden or Westbrook. If they had kept Harden, they would have some fire power to carry them.
