I had to give up the springfield xd acp .45... I could not pull the slide back to chamber a round! :gaah::gaah::L because I have shoulder issues.. so I opted for the .40 still a slight bit difficult with the slide but I can at least chamber a round.

I have the same gun in 9mm, never been a big fan of the .40. You've basically have a 9mm frame shooting a hotter load. You definitely want to be careful not to shoot too hot of a round outta that thing, I've heard horror stories about the Shield .40 not being able to handle the overly hot ammo. You can read some of the issues on the S&W Forums, the dude at the gun shop I frequent has mentioned the same problems.

I got a shield in 9mm as well and prefer my glock 19 more as a carry gun.

Although lately I have pocket carrying a Sig P238.

Good luck that one is gonna bark some with 40 cal.

The ergonomics on the Shield are fanfuckingtastic, just has a great hand feel to it. I have smaller hands and it's perfect for me. The thinness also felt much better than the Glock or XDS that I tried out, feels better when conceal carrying to me too. I have no doubt that you'll love it.

Man wish I would have known or I would have advised you to go with the Smith & Wesson SD9VE or SD40VE. I wanted a 9mm that I could use for protection, finishing off deer in the field and that my wife could use if needed. When we were checking out pistols, the SD series was the only series she could handle (for that very reason with the slide deal). Don't get me wrong the M&P is a nice gun but this was a bit more usable for her. Plus I have had no misfires or issues with the gun and its about 200+ bucks less.

I would've preferred a S & W , glock or Springfield. . However beggars can't be choosers and I didn't have to actually fork out the money..it was more of a swap. .

I have the stainless 9mm S&W for coastal living. The slide seems nice and easy on it.

Those are pretty nice. One of the things about the S&W Shield that I really like is that it's stainless but also has a Melonite finish which makes it extremely corrosion resistant. As hot and humid as it gets here, I needed something tough since I carry all the time and so far this has did the trick.

It sure has. I've had that S&W for 15 years and have seen a lot of so-called "stainless" hardware on boats go to shit in that time. I take that pistol on the boat whenever we take a long trip and never have I seen a spot develop on it. It's gotten salty a time or two when I had to finish off a big shark.

To bad they don't make marine hardware with that same finish.

My next purchase is going to be a Shield. But just out of curiosity, has anybody gotten their hands on one of the new Glock 42s? It's a .380, which I'm not a big fan of, but I like the slim line concept as compared to my Glock 26.

Any feedback on how the .40 shield kicks yet? I've been eying one for a while and can't decide if I want to get it in, yet another, caliber or stick with the 9mm that I already have a stock of.

I'm curious as well my wife has taken over my Glock 19 at the range so I was thinking of another purchase soon and a 40 cal seems like a good idea.

I shot a .40 Shield at the range today did not like the recoil and did not do well with it either. Borrowed a full size .45 M&P with Aped trigger installed and it was smooth as silk. Think that will be my next purchase.

I don't like the .40 cal round, especially in a compact gun. You've basically got a 9mm frame shooting a heavier load.

My PF9 is about as "snappy" a gun as I have ever shot. That little sumbitch will take you by surprise if you're not ready, my wife hates it lol.

I've shot it in both 9mm and .40 and didn't feel much difference in the recoil. Both were very moderate to minimal in my opinion. I have a large frame and hands though. :noidea:
