I think going for that duo is the best plan. You put Otani and Yu at the top of the rotation. Then your #3 and #4 guys in the rotation are good pitching prospects that you get back in trade. Perez, Mendez, or Sadzeck gets the #5 spot. You are not guaranteed of getting Otani, but if it does work out then the rebuilding/retooling process gets a lot shorter.

Just think a year ago today you would have been tempted to tell Profar to give Gomez some hitting tips as Profar was hitting .333 with an OPS of .841 and Gomez was hitting .218. Shortly after July 5th last year Profar lost his chance to play every day and that was that.
