all of it, really.

Ok so elaborate?

Aside from the Yankees start where he faced off w Tanaka, he's had 2 starts in 11 games where his ERA was under 3.6. He has 3 wins and 5 losses over those 11 games.

What kind of price will it take to get him to stay in Texas? Is he a 30 million AAV guy?

Are you willing to risk getting nothing for him if he leaves in FA and wasnt moved at the deadline?

Keep in mind I stated, if you can get a load for him. Im not talking about a couple of prospects.

Darvish just isnt that shut down, top tier ace pitcher that it seemed he was billed to be.

He's in the bottom part of the top tier, but he's still top tier. In my opinion.

Maybe this helps re-sign him on a reasonable deal but I wouldn't offer him what someone else will ultimately probably overpay.

I don't think that last night will affect what contract Yu gets. Boston is kicking complete ass right now, and every pitcher has clunkers.

I would likely move him at the deadline if you can get a load for him.

I still say the priority should be resigning him.

I'll have to look into that, but that seems incorrect.

What kind of price will it take to get him to stay in Texas? Is he a 30 million AAV guy?

I think it's entirely possible Yu could give the Rangers a discount. I would not pay ANY player 30m a year. I think he can be resigned for $22-25m a year.

Are you willing to risk getting nothing for him if he leaves in FA and wasnt moved at the deadline?

Obviously I don't want that to happen. But it's always a risk.

Alright so this seemed wrong and it was. In the 11 starts prior to last night, here were Yu's in-game ERA:

3.00*
0.00*
9.00
1.29*
3.86*
5.40
4.50*
3.60*
1.29*
4.50*
1.29*

That's 4 games other than the NYY game where his ERA was under 3.60. And he still had the game where it was 3.60. He had 9 quality starts over that time as well.

I admit that Yu does have some consistency problems and he doesn't pitch as deep as I'd like on average. But he's definitely in the "ace" category.

Yu may very be the only "ace" that we have any chance of signing any time soon.

I've been patient about it and haven't said much about it all season long, but what the hell is wrong with our outfield grass? It looks like shit. I seriously think someone should be fired. I noticed that it looked bad at the beginning of the season and assumed the grass would be fixed by now. I think it's embarrassing and ridiculous.

So semantics, but I said top tier ace. Which you stated you thought he was in the bottom of the top tier. I am not saying he isnt great at times but as you also said he isnt very consistent and he doesnt get deep all that much

Of all the things you choose to hold your tongue about till mid season and you choose the outfield grass? :L

It seems like something that is not very important in the overall scheme of things, that's why I let it go for awhile. I went to a game somewhat recently and was almost distracted by how bad the field was. I figured the guy in charge has had plenty of time to get it fixed by now and I'm wondering why it still looks bad.

So your ok with him walking and getting nothing for him. When is the last time a baseball free agent gave some team a discount. I can't remember the last time the Rangers sign an ace free agent pitcher. Keep mind when another team signs one of your free agents, you no longer get a first round pick.

Before the season they had some sort of golfing event and cut "greens" into the outfield grass and placed holes and pins on them. My bet is they don't ever do that shit again

Let's hope not. If the field hasn't gotten fixed by now, I'm guessing we will have to wait until the offseason to see improvement.

I believe they said it was done in November so it apparently wont be right anytime soon

That is hard for me to say exactly. I would not give him $30 million per year, but I think he should get more than $20 million. It may depend on what else they can do with some big contracts. If they could trade Hamels and/or Choo by agreeing to pay a portion of their salary then I think they can go a little closer to $30 million than $20 million per year. I would rather overpay financially than to have to overpay prospects-wise via a mid-season trade a couple of years down the road. I hope we don't have to make another Cole Hamels-type trade.

I would not mind at all if they traded both of the big contracts I mentioned above and then signed Yu and pursued hard after Otani.

To me this is a part of Elvis' value that gets overlooked.
