I appreciate what BOB did during a difficult time but he didn't really want to be a college coach while at the same time Franklin not only knows how to be one he seems to excel at it.

Yeah, BOB was right guy at right time, but you can clearly see Franklin embraces and relishes the role of CEO of a college program. He LOVES recruiting and everything that goes with being a college coach. BOB did not embrace the things outside of coaching, eh didn't like dealing with alumni, recruiting or various other activities.
