If you have already finished with the hardest portion of the schedule, they sure are.

That being said, this week sure is a let down after A&M playing big games early in the season.

Don't worry, schedule picks up with UTSA heading to college station not long after the fighting new mexico aggies

I do realize rematches are possible in every conference. It's just going to be guaranteed in the Big 12.

Supposed Texas runs the table and has to play OU again in the CCG and loses. How are the committee members going to look at a team losing to a team it had already beat?

This is why I hate conference championship games in any conference. I think it happened a few years ago with Bama and LSU. It's all about extra revenue. I think I read it will bring an additional 27 million.

They played in the regular season, then again in the NC, not the SECCG.

But yes, it has happened a few times. TN/AU played twice in 2004, FL/AU, FL/Bama (a couple of times I think), UGA/LSU, SCAR/AU.

Honestly though, you can't have a top 10 match-up every week.

Yeah, I get a kick out of all these guys who insist that teams schedule world beaters for their entire OOC. Fuck that shit...life is hard enough.

It's like they think their penis is gonna shrink if they don't schedule tougher opponents.

I actually don't mind this idea. Divisions is good but IMO also bad because some years (especially in the SEC) you never truly get the 2 best teams in the conference title game.

Well when you put it that way, it does sound like a good idea.

I don't like it, I think the voters just wanted a reason to not put the Big 12 in the playoffs the first year. They didn't believe in the teams being considered. Baylor didn't seem like a complete team compared to TCU but Baylor beat TCU so they just left both of them out. The 13th data point was just an excuse to say Baylor played a shit schedule, doesn't play defense, and we don't want to reward that. However, we can't justify putting in TCU over them. Then Ohio St blew out their opponent in the CCG and made the decision easy. And by the way, they won it all. This is another in what I believe to be a desperate decision by the Big 12 to change their perception. You know what will change their perception? Winning big games OOC and in bowls. The league starts doing that and suddenly we start getting the benefit of the doubt again...

I'm anxiously waiting until the conference only has 6 members left so everyone can play each other twice in the regular season and then play a third game in the conference championship.

You realize a rematch can happen in every conference right? I do agree that this isn't a great idea, but so many voters love that 13th game.
can happen but isn't guaranteed to happen

I didn't want a CCG without 12 teams but if we MUST have one (and I think we prob do) with 10 then I like this model better than 5 team divisions. Seems like the conference does a decent job of matching up teams that are supposed to be good and contend late in the season so if they can switch that up and have the better teams play early then rematch them in the CCG when they have a good record and committe ranking then it sets our CCG up to be pretty good every year.
It sets Texas and OU up nicely imo. Their game will always be early enough in the season to where it shouldn't hurt the loser too bad and then they get to tee it up in a different venue at long last assuming they get their acts together and start contending again. It also should help with what might be a weak SOS soon when Snyder Calls it a day and Baylor takes this nose dive that is surely coming.

Exactly. Either the entire Big 12 needs to get better or the league needs to have a couple of real good ones and the rest mediocre to bad. And, the ones that have to be real good are Texas and OU because they are the only ones that'll be seen as having credibility nationally. JMO

The B12 screwed up when they named Baylor and TCU co-champions when Baylor won head to head. That doesn't happen and this game wouldn't exist.

This championship game means nothing.
