This is an interesting one. My first reaction was Matt Leinart because Leinart put up those numbers with Reggie Bush. The year White won Heisman, Peterson got injured (if I am not mistaken). But White still put up 3,000 yards and over 30 TDs the next year.

I decided to go with Jason White.

I try not to consider if their body is in good shape or not, or it is low if anything. I would put what they actually did and the type of help they have and vs who. But that is me, doesn't mean that is how everyone should vote. I think Jason White > Matt Leinart.

Personally, I thought Peterson should have won as a freshman. I was never huge on Leinart, as I was with Reggie Bush. Leinart was a system of a good, flashy team and he had plenty of weapons around him. Bush made things happen, especially in open field and special teams with little blocking.

I kind of think the same with White as Leinart, but OU was far from flashy. But it is White's #s that won me over Leinart, and I don't think if he had Peterson, the #s would be any different. But I think Peterson would have won though.
