Obviously not as accomplished as the guys on that list, but it seems to me that Kevin Sumlin has been pretty remarkable. Making TAMU competitive in its first years in the SEC was no small task. He also did a very good job at Houston before taking the A&M job.
Let's see him without his golden goose next season before passing off judgement.

This. Sumlin isn't in this conversation before or even after Manziel.
If you saw the SNF game between the Texans and the Colts you saw his last "golden goose" playing QB pretty well. Also, it seems pretty naive to me to attribute all of A&M's success to its QB.
He did a great job at Houston as well, but Keenum was a solid qb as well. Give him an average qb and we will see how things play out. His team has 0 defense. If their offense stalls once or twice, you have them beat.
Keenum was a two-star recruit. I don't think he had many offers besides UH.
What success? A 6th place SEC finish??? ANd what else under Sumlin? 0 BCS bowls?
So players can't go under the radar? Guy from my high school named Tyrell Fenroy didn't even get sniffed by any major colleges. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in all 4 seasons, one of 7 players in history to do so and is the all-time leading rusher in Sun Belt History.
I think what he was saying, is he got somewhat lucky with Keenum. Sumlin's recruiting is average at best. Only reason he really got manziel is bc Oregon didn't want him (Marriota)

Not sure it really makes sense to compare recruiting at schools like tOSU, Alabama, and Oregon with recruiting at A&M and UH.

If he wins out maybe the Sugar Bowl.
