Art Briles and James Franklin are really overrated based on merit. Petrino seems a bit high, too. Mike Gundy probably should be a little higher

Coaches on this list severely out of place: Art Briles, James Franklin, Pat Fitzgerald, Mike Riley, Rich Rod, Mike Leach, Dan Mullen, Al Golden, Kirk Ferentz, and Paul Johnson are all WAYYYYYYYYY higher than they deserve.

List is odd. Spurrier at 3 seems awfully high at this pt. O'leary and Rhodes are buried. That makes 0 sense, especially O'Leary. I think Briles is great, but top 5?

Riley, Rich Rod, and Leach can coach. Franklin ranking is insane. Seems there is a huge recency bias.

I forgot to add Richt. That is silly. He takes crown for getting less out of more with Mack gone.

ART BRILES??

Baylor is good every other odd numbered year when they get all the games at home.

They completely and utterly suck on the road.

They will be back to 7-6 next season...and probably 10-2 in 2015.

Until he wins even a handful of road games, he doesn't sniff the top 10....yet alone top 5.

Ehh I thought Ferentz was about right. In his years at Iowa they have as many top 10 national finishes as they had the entire history of the program before him. While he is boring as shit and tends to underachieve when expectations are high he also overachieves frequently when they are low. 35 is about right but if you want to say its a BIT too high then fine. WAYYY too high is an overstatement. How many coaches behind him have multiple conference titles, multiple BCS bowl bids and that many top 10 finishes??

Spurrier is not #3. I guess they are considering his days at UF, but those are long gone. 0 conference titles, 0 BCS bowls at SCAR. Replace Spurrier with David Shaw. Franklin isn't top 15 at all; hasn't done anything yet. Gundy deserves to be top 5 more than Briles. Miles deserves top 10, IMO. This list fucking sucks.....

How the hell is Charlie Strong #1? He hasn't coached a game yet at Texas. Snyder might just be the best considering where he's at.

What are you talking about? Read the list again. It ranks Charlie Strong #26, not #1. Nick Saban is ranked at #1 by the list.

Charlie Strong is actually getting shorted a bit at #26.

He was pretty good at Louisville at recruiting, coaching, and academic progress.

I am not some homer demanding he be a top 10 coach...

I am not sure why guys like David Cutcliffe and Gary Anderson are ranked ahead of him.

Sark at 41. Seems about right given his experience.

Mora at 31 seems low.

Agree with everything you said. I felt the same way. Strong is too low, Cutcliffe is a bit high. Anderson is good but should not be above strong.

I just learned MSU gave Mullens an extension :laugh3: . He is my favorite SEC coach. A guaranteed W on the schedule.

I didn't look at the full rankings, but I thought the same thing about Pat Fitzgerald. He's ranked as the 4th best head coach in the Big Ten. Did they not see his team collapse last year, and Fitz not being able to pull them out of their tail spin?

It seems like everyone loves James Franklin, I'll pay close attention to Penn State this year(unless it interferes with a Badger game) to see what kind of coach Franklin is, I didn't see much that made me think, "wow, he's great" when he was at Vandy, though.
