I have Zoso tattooed on my shoulder. So I don't disagree with you.
I put them as solid 2, but Pink Floyd is right there with them.

Cream came before Led Zeppelin and had a huge influence on later bands. Hell Steppenwolf and Deep Purple preceded Zeppelin and were every bit as good as any band of the time. LZ really built on the success of earlier psychedelic/heavy rock but Sabbath took it to the extreme.

Everybody stole stuff and some of what they purportedly stole is questionable anyway. Like Jimmy Page said after the lawsuits, If LZ hadn't have been so successful nobody would have given a shit. They were sued because they were successful and had the money to pay.

and some of what they stole was not questionable but they fought tooth and nail to not give writing credit where is was clearly due.

I read some of the background, it was dubious at best for a lot of it. Regardless, they deserve the accolades because they actually made something of the songs while the original artists didn't...

I agree to a point. I love their music. They're one of my favorite bands. Just give writing credit when you cover a song is all I'm saying.

In some cases it was supposedly just 4 or 5 notes...really? I think Beethoven may have borrowed more from Mozart, or was that Chuck Berry?

In the same way I put The Moody Blues in a category of their own, nobody has ever duplicated their sound.

Not really sure IF Dylan would make the top 3, but he came out of that "early 60s folk song era" into rock-n-roll.
